Valerio, IT'S SIMONA. You're with me and you haven't realized that I'm "Il_Paolo"??

I didn't sleep a wink last night: why does Thurston Moore (not just any Jimmy Fontana or Bobby Solo) feel the need to dye his hair? A guy who plays rock - or noise - can't have white hair, can he? Show his age? Why pretend to be young, maybe because he cares more about Youth than Sonic? Why not accept oneself? I mean: you practically invented a musical revolution from scratch and you have to dye your hair, knowing full well that your audience would accept you even with salt-and-pepper or white hair, because it's not an audience that cares about the idea of you being young, given that in some ways your music is young? It gives me anxiety, and I always think of a key little rule: after five or six years of activity, bands should break up, artists should vanish from the scene. Dissolve (Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Duane Allmann - no Jim Morrison because I'm not a fan - are indicative). @Genoo: the description of the urban and highway outskirts seemed very sonic to me. Then, those with me might also have enjoyed recognizing themselves in the travel narrative. Don’t hold it against me.

This menopause story is becoming, at times, a national case: it's obvious that at 55 it can be (it is); there's nothing strange and nothing to hide; it hasn't affected her qualities as a performer; it hasn't impacted her charm (to me, during this period, it doesn't say much, but other male colleagues and possibly female colleagues are free to appreciate her). Since the review revolves - I have to make everything explicit to you - around the concept "Kill Your Idols" (the title of one of their albums, I recall), it seemed very sonic to say this about the enchanting Kim. Who, as a feminist, I don't think would take offense at me for stating a true thing without too many superstructures. Then, for the sake of fairness, I tell you that it's worse for the husband who dyes his hair: while menopause is natural, dyeing hair is somewhat less so and is also a bit sad. One can be cool even with salt-and-pepper or white hair, like Lee Ranaldo, Fabrizio Ravanelli, the leader of the Fantastic 4, Raoul Gardini, Lamberto Sposini. Now you’ve got me doubting: why does Thurston dye his hair? What connects him to other dyed individuals like Silvio, Schifani, Bruno Vespa?

Sure, I'll review it for you. But weren't they the Osanna in incubation? Too serious, maybe, for me.

Okay, different sensitivities. Maybe we could see if they align by going together to a Pooh concert. In any case, rummaging through the autogrill bins in search of hidden gold... you have no idea what you're missing when you find it. ST, Il_Paolo

Perhaps we don’t understand each other, dear Superanima: what I described was a day and a journey – from which I omitted a lot, indeed – and the concert as a culmination of a (musical and otherwise) path; with a reflection on the passing of time, relentless for everyone, and also a meditation on the feeling one experiences when their favorite artists cease to be the groove of a vinyl or the track of a CD and reveal themselves in flesh and blood (dyed hair and fat included). What strange sensations: hence the quote that slipped your mind about "Kill Your Idols." The unveiling of the artist as a human being and a limited subject, in contrast to a work that, once engraved, might survive him in Time, but also the encounter with one’s "idols" which sounds like a half disappointment, when you end up humanizing them and stripping them of the aura of semi-divinity that you granted them just by being able to listen to them. Well, this way you force me to lay it all out... Explicitly Yours, Il_Paolo

@Supersoul: don’t be superficial. It’s not that I went to the concert to relive my twenties—I have more fun today (especially since there was no internet back then, nor your comments on my de-reviews). I simply took the opportunity to reflect on the passage of time, even for the Sonics, with all the good I can wish them. @Algol: no, I was at the concert. As proof of this: the footage behind the band didn’t only show CSN & Y, but also, among others, Joan Baez and a Black singer. The ticket, which I have in front of me, was issued by Systec Mima Srl. Next to the concert, there was a small square where they sold t-shirts, including the one with the washing machine. The drinks were sold outside and inside, near the machines. @Lavalin: you missed something truly interesting, regardless of what I described above! Next time you have a ticket, go... no matter the distance, or you’ll regret it.

No, Azzo, I know about "Sister," especially since I wrote it above, and I was referring to the track you mentioned (definitely my favorite by the band). But they could have played "Teenage Riot," at least as an encore. Now, it's not like I've lost my mind at the concert (maybe before). Fraternally Yours - being male - Il_Paolo

@Turkish: I have several friends in BZ, and indeed, I share what you say about its Austrian and Italian matrix together, and about the substantial Italianity of the city, not obviously of the rest of the Province and the valleys (I oversimplified and was mistaken about the allusion to "tedesca," but I was reasoning from a pan-Germanic perspective). Say hi to Durni for me, though.
