@42: what I mean is that the evaluation should be comprehensive and impartial. If a video has enormous hidden significance but the video itself is nothing special, it doesn't necessarily deserve a 5. The English term "overall" drives me crazy; for everything else, there's the description. Do you understand what lies behind my "best video"? (and okay, in the past I gave 5s to a lot of things that didn't deserve it either, forced by the irrational enthusiasm of the novelty it represented for me to review)

Oh well, if you quote GustavoTanz and the other one...

@Bartle: But the same author also draws (at least a little) inspiration from the song, your argument holds, as indeed films based on books are credited to the director, but there is a rights acquisition there. As you say, the piece would be exploited for free, while in the case of music videos the collaboration is more minimal, a director is paid to put images to a song, there’s no real free interpretation. @42: Here we enter into a broader discussion of evaluation criteria, but I’ll revisit that later. it's a music video, not a short/feature film

In my opinion, no Bartle, the song is at the core of everything, it is the origin; without it, the video wouldn’t exist, it would be like crediting the acoustic versions to the designer of the cover.
