genius receipt, great!! I won't say anything about the album because I only have "Nola," but I would say it's a band of considerable respect, so I’d tread lightly in tearing it apart like that, damn, and for the rest I agree with what has already been said about the fact that Down must necessarily be different from Pantera...

But come on, how exaggerated..! Let’s raise the average, shall we.. I still have to listen to the album, but after all this, I don’t even know if I’ll have the desire to.. lately I’ve been caught up in more.. particular things! The other night, my friend and I, passing by our trusted record store, saw the item in question and burst into laughter for no reason at all.. I mean, it’s been 15 years that that junkie has been saying the album's release is imminent, and now here it is in the window... I don’t know, honestly it doesn't attract me, then...

oh, ok.. well, no offense to Tolkien!! :D Maybe I didn't clarify what you were saying because I’ve always considered him the next evolutionary step of the genre (even if to be fair, it seems some of his material was composed in embryonic form back in the 1910s): in my mind, my instinct leads me to follow first the dreamlike fantasy of Dunsany, then the heroic kind like Howard’s, focused on ā€œwarmā€ and almost Homeric and Mediterranean atmospheres, and finally the Tolkienian, with its more ethereal and Nordic vibes, closer to the Celtic and Germanic world. I know, it’s a stupid classification because it overlooks interesting cases like Merrit and Clark Ashton Smith (as well as Lovecraft in his dreamlike and less horror tales, and interesting epigones), but it comes to me instinctively, almost unconsciously; it might be due to the reading journey I've made... or maybe because I see him mainly in hindsight as the true progenitor of contemporary fantasy and therefore I idealistically place him further ahead.. who knows!! :DD

The truth, dear @Suonoonous, is exactly the opposite, that is, I compared Brooks to Tolkien, not Tolkien to Brooks. The fact is that a fantasy world of elves, dwarves, dragons, wizards, gnomes, and broken-ass knights has taken over... for crying out loud, and we can't take it anymore!! Tolkien is great, but everything is now shaped in the image of his universe (try reading "The Lord of the Rings" first and then "The Sword of Shannara" right after, to understand), and it’s so boring!! I dived into the fantasy of the early days precisely because after reading "The Lord of the Rings," everything else seemed like a pointless rehashing of the 'types' from Tolkien's masterpiece... Well, yes, then, the saga of Conan will probably attract more of a 'metal' reading audience, especially those fanatic about Manowar... and so, just to throw out another one of my unmatched nonsense, I'll also give you the legendary equation I just cleverly devised: R.E. Howard : Manowar = Tolkien : Blind Guardian = Terry Brooks : Rhapsody of Fire… I hope, as a result of this, I have (pointlessly, mind you) clarified my position on this... the results and conclusions of my very important and fundamental research will appear under the title "De Fantasy Litteris Et Metallica Musica In Opinione Defenderis LXXXV Libri III," a handy treatise of 4172 pages in 17 practical A3 volumes, accompanied by marginal notes on useful and convenient recycled toilet paper… Debaser I love you...
