First of all, I kindly hope that the people in charge of this site will allow me to publish a few lines again about Metallica's album Death Magnetic.
First of all, I wanted to write this to all the people who have legitimately made skewed and offensive comments towards me; I'm not one to take offense, especially when ignorance reigns among many people, and in this case, we're talking about music;
?1) Thrash Metal is not just noise made with guitars that fire off sixteenth notes at over 220 bpm to get where??????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!Up your screwed up ass????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I think so........
?2) Metallica from the very beginning, along with Megadeth, Anthrax, and Overkill, have stood out in composing songs following a certain structure, combining melody and catchiness, (Angel Of Death by Slayer might not be catchy....but shame on you, ignorant ones, it's just a machine gun)
?3) In this genre, it's nice to hear the melody being destroyed at one point or another, just as it's nice to hear the opposite, with devastating riffs paired alongside melodic lines, otherwise what kind of crappy music is it??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
?4) In Death Magnetic, Metallica blended all the things they had already composed with some new creations, and by doing so, the result wasn't a failure of an album, but rather..........a good piece of work, even if the initial arpeggio reminds of Enter Sandman with a diminished fifth interval like in the main riff of The Judas Kiss (E Bb), with this they shouldn't be thrown in the mud, because this time they have risen honorably from the mud and in these rushing times, it's hard to hear such an enjoyable album, with all that Nu-Metal garbage constantly circulating, the Horsemen have successfully stayed current, sure the sound can't be the typical Thrash sound that many imagine, instead it resembles a lot the self-titled Metallica album known as the Black Album, but again they did more than a good job;
?5) The Horsemen have never been hyper-technical and great music scholars, just think that Hetfield is self-taught, but they have nonetheless marked the beginning of this genre and provided all the charisma necessary to fill this musical genre, and when composing, one always starts from a riff that seems like nothing but then turns into something overwhelming and from there comes the rest of the track, as they have always done.
In conclusion, for those who love true Thrash, as I call it "Pure", like Sacred Reich, Slayer, Exodus, etc. etc., it's understandable that this latest album might not be to their liking, but I don't think it's fair to throw Metallica in the mud who, after 17 years with three mediocre albums, have worked on something good and have resurrected (at least for now).
For me, the ratings of their albums are:
Death Magnetic 8.5
St. Anger 5
Reload 5.5
Load 6
Metallica 10
...And Justice For All 9
Master Of Puppets 10
Ride The Lightning 10
Kill ?Em All 8
Sorry again for my typos, I hope there are fewer this time.
I leave every comment open to you.
Regards.
Luca.
"Death Magnetic would undoubtedly win the Grammy for the most talked-about album ever."
"Welcome back, Metallica!"
"They should have titled the album 'Jamescantameglio' instead of 'Death Magnetic.'"
"'The Unforgiven III' sounds really bad, it's ugly, pathetic, pitiful."
With this album, the rediscovered Four Horsemen ride high again on the treacherous paths of Thrash Metal.
Death Magnetic is better than the infamous Black Album, which I never considered more than a good album.
"Death Magnetic shows that a new golden age for Metallica is impossible."
"All nightmare long' is the song that shows how Metallica, especially Hetfield, can still give a lot."
"Robert Trujillo represents one of the two main strengths of the work; incidentally, the other is the rhythm guitar."
"If the entire CD had been at the level of 'The Judas' Kiss,' one might have even been moved by such well-crafted metal in these dark years for the genre."
