The film is a charming little movie. The Squid and the Whale, however, is much more powerful. The localization is one of the most painful things I've ever seen after SuXbad - Three Minds Above the Hair: it didn't deserve to be marketed as just any American Pie that gem.

I think it was one of the first PSX games to be dubbed. The dubbing is pretty bad, okay, but I think that if at 10 years old I had to manage with subtitles, it wouldn't have thrilled me as much.
