For me, the review is a bit too unbalanced, but not indecent, as some say. I haven't seen the film, and I don't think I'll bother searching for it...

@mien: Did the Yellow Jackets open for Michael Jackson? Never knew that, but it could be... Do you have "Open Letter" by Ralph Towner? The "hairy" one plays on it too! ;-)

@emanuele: perhaps you didn't fully grasp what I wrote, or at least what I intended to write. I wanted to start the review with the criticism often made about fusion, and then I added: "Partially true," which could also be said as: "In some cases it is true, but not always!" And indeed, then I talk about an album that I really like, which has fusion sounds and contradicts that criticism (at least in my opinion). I believe that each of us here has a different concept of where jazz ends and where fusion begins (or vice versa), but that falls within the realm of opinions... With the term "jazz-fusion" I meant "both jazz and fusion," so we can include Lovano, Towner, etc.

Thank you to everyone present. The comments page is very interesting because it gathers all kinds of opinions, from those who are all about "fusion always and anyway" (Emanuele) to "fusion not even dead" (supersoul, Contemplation). Of course, the people mentioned will have something to say, but I'm just simplifying! ;-) @Conte: I would save pieces like "Qué Alegria" from McLaughlin's "post-Mahavisnu" era, in a guitar-bass-percussion trio. Perhaps in a future review... @supersoul: the previous "Start Here" is quite close...

Too many reviews in too few days, in my opinion... The idea is good but you risk inflating it. Make yourself desirable!

Everyone talks about it as a fundamental album; I’ll have to get it... Great review, but I won't completely discard digital audio compression techniques. On the computer speakers and in the car, MP3 works just fine for me.

You know what? Sometimes you have an excessively cautious tone and, deep down, you always try to apologize for reviewing certain artists ("Keep in mind that I also listen to Saccarine Trust"). In reality, there are some quite interesting points of reflection in your reviews, and the style is fluid and almost always pleasant. However, if you’re not convinced yourself about what you’re writing, then you can’t complain if someone criticizes you...
