almost certainly the best of the last twenty years in Italy. in my opinion, the only 5-star album is 17 re. all in all, I'm happy about the reunion, even if obviously driven by commercial reasons.

Honestly, I am a supporter of the two albums with Menel; even the more distinctly pop tracks (No Love Lost, Promises) have a level of class that is definitely above average. If we're being completely honest, I believe that with Nicholls, IQ intentionally put the more pop period on hold (which was certainly driven by the record label, riding the wave of Marillion's global success, to the extent of placing a couple of videos in heavy rotation on Videomusic and similar channels), but they lost a bit of freshness, ending up producing many albums that are formally impeccable but a little too similar to one another. Ever is a really great record; even the subsequent ones are far from bad, and I think Frequency is one of the best albums of 2009, but in some ways, the times of Nomzamo and Are You Sitting Comfortably convey a stronger sense of a "living" band. And if I'm going to be completely honest, my favorite album by far is Tales from the Lush Attic—perhaps immature but truly inspired. Nonetheless, it's a band that is definitely less fortunate than it deserved.
The Housemartins London 0 Hull 4

I loved and devoured this album, people who grinned themselves to death, caravan of love, the double anthology. I totally share your opinion, and it's funny when I think that musically they are almost the antithesis of my tastes (I listen almost exclusively to prog). The debut of Beautiful South was decent too, then I lost track of them and I regret it, they were really a breath of fresh air. Only to discover that under the genius of Fatboy Slim (again, a complete antithesis, but in certain flashes, genius must be recognized) was the good Norman.
It’s build a house where we can stay
Add a new bit everyday
It’s build a road for us to cross
Build us lots and lots and lots and lots and lots
(well, this isn't from London Hull 0-4, but it's stunning)
Saxon Strong Arm Of The Law

rather weak review. but how can one label the saxon of strong arm of the law as inexperienced? perhaps seminal the first, but already from wheels of steel they reach a good maturity. and after denim and leather begins the downfall. however, they were a really great band.

Eric Woolfson Poe: More Tales of Mystery and Imagination

this review is beautiful as well, uncle eric is gone but his music remains. I will listen to both this and freudiana, although I fear that the glories of the early APP are hard to match (let's say until turn of a friendly card). however, even in the later albums, although much more pop, there are pieces of great beauty. RIP

I don't know the album in question (with APP I stopped at Stereotomy, starting almost in real time from the very first Tales from Mystery and Imagination), but the review is accurate and passionate. A fitting tribute to a character who played an important role. Goodbye old Eric, I miss you.

casamorta, you hit the nail on the head. The greatness of Levi, in my opinion, lies in his refusal to indulge in emotions, in his desire to tell, coldly (as much as someone who has experienced what he has - and, alas, as it will end for him on this earth - can), rationally, like a scientist, about horrific events that nonetheless arrive like gunshots in the dark, chilling the reader's blood. The film is good, with an excellent Turturro, but as often happens, it does not even come close to the greatness of the text. Thank you, Primo Levi, for having endured all of this and for giving us such wonderful pages.
