Lars von Trier L'Elemento Del Crimine

Come on, it was still in a demonstrative phase and kept its megalomania in check... the stylistic exercise is there and it's evident, but definitely well done. Indeed, it is now, after carving out his own role as a contemporary innovator of staging with "The Waves of Destiny," that he continues to abuse his most worn-out stereotypes. And, mind you, at a theoretical level, already in "Element of Crime," Von Trier brought into play all the foundations (and there are not many, when all is said and done) of his own Weltanschauung.

Antirust copy-paste: "Tetanus is a serious infectious disease caused by the action of a toxin (tetanus toxin) produced by bacteria (tetanus clostridia) that live in soil or in the intestines of animals. The disease can be fatal in about 20-30% of cases. Unlike other vaccine-preventable infectious diseases, tetanus is not transmitted from person to person. The infection often results from a wound, even a trivial one, sustained by a person who is not adequately vaccinated. Thus, the risk of tetanus can be considered daily for an unvaccinated individual. In developing countries, tetanus can affect unvaccinated women infected during childbirth or their newborns due to infection of the umbilical cord (neonatal tetanus, which has completely disappeared in the West today). Rarely, and always in unvaccinated individuals, tetanus can also be contracted through the use of infected syringes, animal bites, burns, and abrasions. Tetanus infection produces violent muscle contractions, called spasms. Other symptoms may include fever, sweating, high blood pressure, and tachycardia. The spasms may involve the vocal cords and respiratory muscles, making breathing extremely difficult. The contractions can be so violent that they may also cause bone fractures. In Italy, before the introduction of mass vaccination (which was progressively made mandatory for various groups during the 1960s), there were about 700 cases of tetanus annually. From the late 1960s onward, infections gradually decreased, reaching current values of just over a hundred cases per year (all of which, however, are suffered by unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated adults); on the other hand, due to the high number of vaccinated individuals, no cases of tetanus have been recorded in people under the age of 20."

Copy-pasting on my knees on the chickpeas: "I Galileo, son of the late Vincenzo Galileo of Florence, aged 70 years, personally constituted in judgment, and kneeling before you Eminent and Reverend Cardinals, in the whole Christian Republic against the heretical depravity of the General Inquisitors; having before my eyes the sacred Gospels, which I touch with my own hands, I swear that I have always believed, I believe now, and with the help of God I will believe in the future, all that the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church holds, preaches, and teaches. But since from this Holy Office, because I have, after having been legally warned by the same, been instructed that I must entirely abandon the false opinion that the sun is the center of the world and that it does not move and that the earth is not the center of the world and that it moves, and that I could not hold, defend, or teach in any way, neither verbally nor in writing, this said false doctrine, and after being notified that said doctrine is contrary to Sacred Scripture, I wrote and printed a book in which I discuss the same already condemned doctrine and provide very effective arguments in its favor, without offering any solution, I have been judged vehemently suspect of heresy, that is, of having held and believed that the sun is the center of the world and unmoving and that the earth is not the center and that it moves.
Therefore, wishing to remove from the minds of Your Eminences and of every faithful Christian this vehement suspicion justly conceived about me, with a sincere heart and a non-fictitious faith I abjure, I curse and detest the aforementioned errors and heresies, and generally any and all other error, heresy and sect contrary to the Holy Church; and I swear that in the future I will never again say or assert, either verbally or in writing, things for which a similar suspicion might arise about me; but if I should know of any heretic or one who is suspected of heresy, I will denounce them to this Holy Office, or to the Inquisitor or Ordinary of the place where I am found.
I also swear and promise to completely fulfill and observe all the penances that have been or will be imposed on me by this Holy Office; and should I transgress any of these my promises and oaths, which God forbid, I submit to all the penalties and punishments that are imposed and promulgated by the sacred canons and other general and particular constitutions against similar delinquents. So help me God and these His holy Gospels, which I touch with my own hands.
I Galileo Galilei, have abjured, sworn, promised and obligated myself as above; and in faith of the truth, with my own hand I have subscribed this present deed of my abjuration and recited it word for word, in Rome, in the convent of Minerva, this day 22 June 1633.
I, Galileo Galilei, have abjured as above, with my own hand."

Copy/paste pro-bat boxes: "It has been on sale at hypermarkets and large Coop supermarkets since February 2008, or we can independently build a wooden house for bats, an experiment that I will personally carry out and invite you to try; here is the article also reported in L’informatore dei soci COOP.
It’s time! At the first warmth of spring, bats will leave their winter shelters (caves, mines, and basements) to find a “home” near places rich in insects. It’s not easy for them to find a suitable place to rest during the day and hunt at night. There are no longer – or very few – old houses with sheltered nooks where they can hang upside down, away from predators, protected from extreme heat or cold. Therefore, bat boxes can be useful, that is, artificial shelters made specifically for them. A bat can consume two thousand insects per night and thus serve as a natural regulator against the overpopulation of gnats and mosquitoes. This is why the return of bats among our homes is important for us as well. From this year, it will be easier to obtain a bat box: starting in February, it will be available in the hypermarkets and supermarkets of Unicoop Firenze. And even if the problem is particularly felt in summer, now is the time to think about it.
The bat box is a “box” made of birch plywood, without harmful glues and dyes, odorless, approximately 35 centimeters wide, 60 centimeters high, and only 5 centimeters thick. It was designed by a group of researchers from the Natural History Museum, Zoology Section "La Specola" of the University of Florence, based on the experiences acquired on Italian bat species. It has yielded good results in experiments already conducted for several years in various municipalities of Tuscany, although it cannot be expected to be used by bats without proper placement. Ultimately, bats are the ones who decide, and there is no other way to convince them other than good localization of the bat boxes. Bats will use them as a refuge if they are well positioned and easily identifiable. The best installation is on the external wall of a house, at least four meters above the ground and near vegetation. It is also possible to attach the bat box to the main trunk of a tree or on a simple pole: the important thing is that it does not move when strong winds blow. Those mounted on metal surfaces have never been colonized and should not be illuminated by strong lights at night. Let’s reiterate once again that it is always the bats that choose their shelter, and it is not possible to forcibly relocate them into bat boxes. Moreover, we remind you that the law strictly protects them and also prohibits handling them without a specific permit granted only for study purposes. Inside the bat box for sale, there is also a cardboard sheet with instructions for placement and maintenance. Additionally, there is a monitoring sheet where the data on the positioning of the bat box and the data on colonization by the bats can be recorded. All these data are important to send to the staff of the Natural History Museum, which can expand knowledge about bats. Finally, there is a diagram on the life cycle of these flying mammals. Besides the sheet, there will also be the brochure “A Bat as a Friend,” published last year, which provides important information about these fascinating animals and how to protect them, for the well-being of everyone and the environment.
I recommend purchasing or trying to build this box, downloading the complete plan and following the material instructions on the Project Details page of the UniFI site."

Mmmmmh, I didn't know anything about it, and I'll end up investigating, distractedly... But aside from the historiographical value of "Cabiria," it seems to me that for most (i.e.: contemporary film critics), the excessive "art deco" gluten of this film, released a year later, with its paroxysm of poses and affectations (with Menichelli so over-the-top that it makes one long for the 19th-century stylishness of Sarah Bernhardt), hasn't done much to enhance the reputation that Piero Fosco holds in posterity.

Joseph Kessel, the writer... but it doesn't matter much, when you can rely on the semantic alliterations of Carrière and the radiant verses of Vierny, you can create a sonnet even from a fart.
