Hello everyone,
recently someone already positively reviewed this album and among the comments (all rather negative) one in particular stood out, something like "nooo! Let DEMIAN handle these things!"
Well, as a great idol of mine would say, "ITALY CALLS, DEMIAN ANSWERS!", so here I am in all my splendor!
About Gemelli DiVersi in general, I can say three things:
And selling to young girls was something they managed marvelously, and I must also admit they managed to produce some really quite good pieces.
Analyzing "Fuego", for example, we find some filler tracks, but others really worthy of attention both lyrically and musically.
For example, the hit "Tu corri", an invitation to follow your dreams, or the equally well-received "Tu no", a fun and original declaration of love, both very melodic and well-arranged.
Then we have what will become their iconic track, "Mary", an average song (it gets boring after a while) but with a very important meaning, especially because, as mentioned above, this group has a strong influence on young girls, and who knows how many Marys among them might find in the words of their idols the strength to change horrible situations like the one described, perhaps by denouncing it... who knows...
However, outside of the singles sphere, we also find other good tracks like "Whisky & Margarita" and the very funny "Quella cosa".
Overall, from their first very mediocre album I think Grido, Thema, Strano, and THG are evolving, becoming increasingly skilled at delivering a message here and there while remaining strictly pop, and this album is a bit of a transition.
My rating is three stars (not too generous).
Cheers
"Mary is a girl who has suffered from past sexual abuse and violence... Mary stares at his tombstone, shedding tears is impossible."
"Fuego ranges from tenderness and moving stories to fun and irreverence, capturing the spirit of youth in all its complexity."
