Oxbow The Narcotic Story

What happened to the "PisSi PisSi" (#2)? Did it get gobbled up by a particularly biting ear to which it was whispered, the ex-great Sfascia?! This would deprive future pigs of an enneduesima pearl of wisdom... Ooooh, are we talking about Oxbow?! I didn't even know they were still intact and integralists; I listened to 3 of their early albums and... back then, they could play pretty poorly, but they certainly juggled the titles better than nowadays ("The Balls in the Great Meat Grinder Collection" above all!)... which, by the transitive property, is it worth lending an ear to this latest one??! (without even invoking the merchant ;)

@ Kyklos: my observation about the diversity of the registers among the various albums refers back to my own comment, as I cite this one and "American Don" which, if we want, are perhaps the two works that differ the most in terms of percussive (or percussive ; ) research... (even though they are probably the two most meticulously "calculated" pieces by the combo).

Session or rhythmic section?!... "Percusoniche" is the perfect adjective for them... but, aside from these trivialities... it's the thing about Don Caballero that I prefer (and yet the subsequent and entropic "American Don" I enjoy quite a bit)... well, although they are remarkably recognizable, they have never made 2 similar albums (let alone identical)... Damon "percussoni-Che" rules!!! Rating: 4.5.

The wordplay, really, is that of "You Only Live Twice" while the title of the opening track is quite unpretentious, a completely normal quip that is commonly used in Italian... and it can be translated literally. The album, as you said, becomes tiring after a short while, and a few sporadic changes in direction aren’t enough to correct its sense of repetitiveness. Fewer tracks could have made it a good piece of work. A bare pass, in my view (the riff of "Juicebox," on the other hand, shamelessly reminds me of the theme from the old TV series "I Mostri," which I don't know who composed ;), a rating of 3.5 that I round up for excess.

Written that way, I don't think it can be considered a blasphemy in its entirety (at least not in a linguistic sense); this should be seen as part of a deliberately over-the-top post, dear Spaccatesticoli (this way I'm being less vulgar). Perhaps you didn’t notice we were discussing hot air, complete with names that are blatant "fakes" (except for Deleuze, but when talking about nothingness, it's always nice to mention him). ; ) In any case, if I have offended the sanctity and sobriety of your page, I apologize.

There was a Japanese anime ("BTX") that aired about eight years ago, on the now-defunct TMC2 if I remember correctly, and the Italian "voice" of the all-powerful technocratic seahorse that bore the name of the series was none other than Sandro Iovine... I used to laugh my head off every time I heard him pronounce battle phrases with a manichean emphasis, like a tough guy (you know, like Mr. Burns delivering a Lundgren-esque line: "I WILL BREAK YOU IN TWO!"). @ Supersoul: well, the saying "nick/omen" applies here too (and it’s far from fatalistic given the ability to contemplate the coinage), but you also have a nearly compulsive attachment to these dear old "streets," huh...? ; )

What a lousy band...

Porello, what could one come up with about a band that, even when pretending to have much more to say than others, expressed itself with the lexicon of an aphasic with a polished eloquence?!! Then, through a cadence of lexemes and lexemes, they got boiled STEARING AT THE SUN, UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY... Here, take it, it's the first open palm (and with intact phalanges) that I’m throwing out here (but do another one like this and four fingers will be missing! ).
