Thelonious Monk Genius Of Modern Music Vol. 1 & 2
Voto:
Let’s say that Parker set the standard, while Monk didn’t even try to imitate him… and how can you? It's impossible!! Moreover, his strength lies especially in his compositions, in addition to his unique playing style (which is indeed inimitable). If we look at the vast number of his pieces that have been ā€œcovered,ā€ studied, and paid tribute to by other musicians, and how Monk has been critically examined in attempts to understand him, it becomes difficult to rank their seminal influence!

Sooner or later, I would have reviewed these pages of wonderful music myself. I know them through the interpretation, which I find quite good, by Alfred Brendel. By now, the sonata form had been completely transfigured, into a kaleidoscope of sounds born of true GENIUS. But perhaps the pinnacle is Op. 133. I agree with everything the reviewer said, even though in my experience I have fortunately encountered few listeners of that kind, perhaps because I have also been selective about whom to talk to. For me, Music is always ONE. I’ve listened to everything, and my preference equally goes to composers who write ā€œwith pen in handā€ and to instant composers.

Do you want to see that in the end living in Rome, this city of bumpkins, isn't that bad after all? Alessio, you have to become indifferent...

Unfortunately, I only know him by name... congratulations on the beautiful page.

As Happypippo said, Pink Moon is the voice of the soul.

Mauro, how do we go back?... we are too many, all hungry and greedy. Only an imminent and grave common danger can distract us from our own selfishness. Friendships increasingly resemble a criminal organization, a conspiracy among a few at the expense of the others. ("Daglie sbrigate, che sennò quel pezzo de mmerda ce frega er posto!"). Sensitivity and civility have become passports to extinction now! ;-)

Hello Gustaff! Too kind...

No, because you would deserve a 1 just for not saying hi to me at Bobby's concert! What can I say about the album...pure stream of consciousness.
Giovanni Allevi Joy

As further confirmation: in a summer concerts billboard, Allevi was listed among other "illustrious" names... Venditti, for instance ;-)))

But weren’t you the one who couldn’t come to Umbria Jazz? ;-) Which concerts did you manage to see/hear then? Bobby was really out of it, did you see the faces he was making? Anyway, it was the first time I saw Herbie live, and despite the obvious flaws in his production over the last two decades, I still wanted to pay my respects with my presence at least once in my life for sentimental reasons. As for COX: I agree, especially since Williams and Carter are respectively my favorite drummer and bassist. And you can verify that from my reviews ;-) Hi everyone.
