As a leader, dive right in with "Convergence," just to get started!

Hymns, but do you think the influence of a musician on others is measured only by how much the two musics resemble each other externally? What Monk explored were also the thousand possibilities of chords, and that conception of harmonic boldness can be found just as it is in the daring solos of Parker and Co.

HE HE I know the difference between "Stop and go" and "Start and stop," but I'm NOT telling you!! Also because Muito believes I only know it with a guide, and I was offended...;-)

I’m currently re-listening to all my Monk records at full blast, even as I write this. What can I say… a bow. Monk, however, had a huge impact on the underground scene of the '40s; it seems to me that you’re overemphasizing the '50s... I’ll refer you to my review on Monk for my perspective.

I almost forgot, despite his bratty face, Rattle is a truly great conductor!

And anyway, the short instrumental pieces of Bryter Layter are beautiful and refined, demonstrating that they are true compositions suitable to be arranged for combos of various sizes. I can easily imagine a Nick Drake reinterpreted in a symphonic key, or even in a jazz style (as has already happened with Brad Mehldau), not necessarily in the (albeit beautiful) guitar-vocal version. And then too often artists are not objective about their own work. For me, Five Leaves and Bryter flow down smoothly like oil (as does Pink Moon), I believe it’s more a matter of listening habits than of "fine palate."

Pamparius, do you like Dave Douglas?

Congratulations on the beautiful page and the "Great" choice! I also have Mila's booklet, it's an easy and useful read, and it perfectly highlights Schubert's tendency towards thematic repetition. With Schubert, you always feel at home; you can even get a little distracted while listening, as his splendid motifs will gently return to guide you. How can one give a 3 to this masterpiece, Kyrielison?
Miles Davis Sorcerer
Voto:
Eh eh better late than never... a very welcome visit! Miles got into the habit of honoring his women starting from "E.S.P.". There you find Frances Davis, his second wife, portrayed a week before their separation, in "Sorcerer" as you mentioned there’s Cecily Tyson (relative of Mike?), and in "Filles De Kilimanjaro" Betty Mabry, the rock 'n' roll chick from whom he divorced because she cheated on him with Jimi Hendrix... it seems that he returned the favor by taking Jimi's woman to bed, although he denied it in his autobiography. What stories!! ;-)))
