Pat Metheny, Dave Holland and Roy Haynes Question and Answer

On the record, I am waiting for the judgment of my friend Andrea, the most authoritative on Pat. It’s not a review, so rating it is inappropriate; but even as a life story, I must say I didn’t find it that inspiring, alas! I also have my doubts that you have "metabolized" jazz, very strong doubts… all this without offense to you!

Vinaccia is great. Hi Antonio, sorry if you didn't receive a reply to your post on another review (about Zappa? anyway, it was about Zappa), unfortunately just as I was responding to you (it was really late too) the line got disconnected and I was left hanging like a fried chicken. Of course, know that I have respect for you too, that was the gist of the message! Hi Jake, how I wish I could get back to reviewing... :-(

5 just for mentioning Julius Hemphill in the review! I know Berne less, and from what little I've gathered, he seems like a bluff, but if the occasion arises, I'll listen to him again.
John Coltrane The Complete Africa/Brass Sessions

Good, very good. But Trane's masterpieces are others, so 4 for me, and 4 for the review as well due to some inaccuracies and a certain heaviness in the introduction.
Massimo Urbani Dedications To A.A & J.C + Max's Mood

Dear Dolphy!! Great tribute to the late Massimo... I don't know the album in question, I'll see if I can give it a listen!

The voice is unmistakable! ;-)

All very valid albums (I don't know the last one, though), but in my opinion, here the compositions, the arrangements, and the quality of the instrumental contributions (not to mention Waits's wildly mad vocal performance) are all superb, definitely above the other albums by Waits that I know.

"the rising stars Calà and De Sica"....AH AH AH
Three for the review instead of four because I found the writing style a bit heavy this time!

We were writing at the same time! Antonio, you’re probably referring to “The Triangle,” a great ECM album rated 4.5, one of the first records from this label that I bought. There, Marshall drives me crazy too, while still remaining "tough" in some pieces (which I think isn’t a drawback at all in a cultural climate of jazz drummers who don’t "dare" to play a little louder). I was supposed to see Tsabropoulos live on December 12, with cellist Anja Lechter and our great drummer from Udine U.T. Gandhi, but unfortunately, I was stuck in bed. Erskine is an institution... one of his most enjoyable performances, in my opinion, is the trio album by Martial Solal “Triangle” (what creativity in the titles of these trios!), featuring Marc Johnson on double bass. It’s one of those rare cases where three first-rate virtuosos come together (Solal is truly phenomenal; he was a surprise to me) and manage to be both technical and musical at the same time. I highly recommend it to everyone!
