Watching this film truly pulls you into another dimension! Wonderful music with a grand scope, just like the desert itself. Great review.

I saw less than a third, then I changed my mind. I would say it has all the credentials to be defined as genuine garbage...

Dear Jimmy, enjoy this phase while you can, because believe me, very soon you'll lose the desire to work so hard for a quick fling, and the fake romanticism will go to hell, in favor of a beautiful normalcy! Anyway, the unbeatable background for eros (let’s stop with this "making love") is Chopin's Nocturnes, the perfect accompaniment to the spectacle of fertility mixed with transience that we put on during the carnal union of our mortal bodies.

They just replayed it on television recently, and I simply couldn't resist watching it again. As always in Allen's work, the dialogues are phenomenal and "slow-release." It's a delightful comedy-thriller, with moments of genuine suspense, that kind of tension kids feel when playing hide-and-seek, fearing they'll be discovered. Sure, in some parts it's a bit too farcical, but who cares!! The review is good, and the opening is excellent, as it perfectly summarizes the atmosphere that will permeate the entire film with two lines from the protagonists. UXO, don't you really know it? It's one of Allen's most outrageous films!

OLE, I like it too, but then I would have had to add "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere," and then the list would have gotten too long!! ;-)

The '81 version triumphs over all. Completely different from the '55, much slower (51' vs. 39'), focused, the sound is even more polished, everything is relaxed, even in the most tempestuous moments. It’s like a man returning to see his dearest friend after almost thirty years, and both have changed, more life-experienced, wiser, less impulsive. And the recording quality is superb. Every note is enveloped in a sheet of pure gold.

Among other things, I've never found the two tracks with the orchestra to be as redundant as a lot of people (not you) have always said; on the contrary, for me, "A Man Needs A Maid" is one of the peaks of the album.

I have to tell the truth, I didn't really like the review, sorry! As for the album, I say that this, "After The Gold Rush," "On The Beach," and "Rust Never Sleeps" are must-haves, and in my opinion, all deserve a 4.5.

I had written a nice long post, where I explained my point of view in detail, and I really liked it!! I hit send and my damn connection says "address not found." It got lost. I spent an hour writing it, and now I'm a bit bitter about it, and I really don't feel like trying to rewrite it. Oh well...

"Sentimental ending that smells of manure." You'd deserve a 5 just for this perfect, absolutely hilarious, genius line. You made me crack up!! ;-) But I'll give you a 4 HA HA
