This, along with the previous "Go!" (also a 4.5), is absolutely a must-have! P.S.: I disagree with you regarding the modernity of Clarke's drumming, considering we’re in '63 and it sounds just like it did 15-20 years earlier (when it was truly modern, an innovator, but almost immediately Max Roach and Art Blakey overshadowed him!). And then in '63, modernity in the drumming world was represented by Elvin Jones and Tony Williams, both of whom were light-years ahead of Kenny Clarke's bop. I would talk more about tradition than modernity, especially since Gordon himself is rooted in tradition. This is certainly not avant-garde music, and even the repertoire is of a classical type.
