By the way Adder, there's another thing you don’t know: your son is actually quite a nice little black guy, but he turned out really light and you never noticed ;-) It seems more Fusion than Hard Rock, actually...

When I think of the word "sportina," what comes to mind is more or less the classic fitness girl you see at my gym: a little fancy, a bit of a flirt, and DUMB. I mean really dumb, right? From tomorrow on, I’ll start calling them that. "Hey, what are you doing tonight?" "I’ve got plans! Tonight I’m going to do a sportina!" Sounds good...

Onan, a biblical character, did not want to mate with women, so he spilled his seed on the ground, through masturbation. Question: why is the vast majority of metal musicians long-haired, often dressed in black and with generally grim expressions? Is it for the same reason that rappers all dress that way and gesture in that manner? Conformity within anti-conformity? Lack of personality? Commercial logics, where a bit more smoke serves to cover up the lack of substance? Those long hair seem to me like a uniform... but above all: what’s the use of such attitude if one is REALLY a great musician? These guys don’t break the mold, they break balls.

Rece good, maybe next time though be less verbose, there's no need for all that information! Caribbean music excites me, because it brings to mind holiday resorts, swaying bottoms, sex on the beach...

Bandana yes, sleeveless shirt no because it was a bit chilly...anyway, the nose was the customary one! This time he played the piano 90% of the time, saving the accordion for the encores. And in the piano, he throws in everything, to get unusual sounds. He even had a table with a small set of pots, a mountain bike, and a 14-inch color TV...just kidding!, which he skillfully struck with a drumstick while continuing to play the piano with his left hand. He often whistles the notes he plays in tune...sweats like a pig...sometimes grunts. A nice character, all in all ;-) Iside, I imagine the Barritas are a sardonic group...

Jake, about my love-hate relationship with Italian jazz, on March 8th I attended a "family" concert by the duo Sandro Satta-Antonello Salis, in the small concert hall of my music school (scuola popolare di musica di testaccio, in Rome). They were AMAZING. In my opinion, Satta is the greatest Italian (I exaggerate: European!) saxophonist around, and Salis is also unique on the piano (he plays a bit like Cecil Taylor, a bit like a faster Paul Bley, and a bit like...Salis!!). The music absolutely moved me! They played continuously for almost two hours, blending together "Naima," "My Jelly Roll Soul," "Body And Soul," "Summertime," and other jazz originals and standards (a beautiful repertoire), all transformed and performed in a mix of absolutely melodic and engaging free jazz and minimalist, lyrical moments. Satta, in particular, confirmed his unmatched talents. Among all the saxophonists I've listened to (old and new), he is perhaps the fastest and most powerful (imagine a Coltrane playing the alto sax, but with the deep, booming notes of a Sonny Rollins), and he has a beauty and depth of tone that would make even the best Garbarek envious; he takes the best of tradition and adds a lot of his own (it seems like he sings, and what a voice!!). As for his improvisational skills, that’s a separate discussion...I have no words, not a note out of place, perfect dynamics, overflowing ideas, and stellar interplay with his partner! Damn, I might as well have written a proper review!! ;-) Rating: 5 stars.
