I completely agree, Donjunio....whatever the Grunge was, it was certainly pumped, misled, and heavily exploited by the media and those looking to profit from it, musicians or not. As far as I'm concerned, it was a pleasant and liberating chapter, a way to say NO to a certain mainstream rock, especially hard rock and glam, whose philosophy was the most crass, kitschy, and polished you can imagine.....I’m referring to bands like Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, and anyone else you can think of. The philosophy of hard rock elevated to its nth degree in the worst sense of the term.

Yes, thanks to Krizia (Crizia was an Athenian politician) and the infamous Milanese fashion, the outward appearance of Grunge also lost its credibility and everything was reduced to a fake poor fashion, vintage, but branded. The Grunge philosophy was seen, perhaps erroneously who knows, as a return to simple things at the expense of the hedonism and materialism of the 80s.

Yes, true, but knowing them less and being a die-hard zeppelin fan (forever), the first ones I noticed were them...

So, Donjunio, it's just a matter of labels :-) ...I don't know how old you are, but I have quite a few years under my belt, so I remember precisely back in the day, when I bought Nevermind, Ten, Superunknown, etc., that I found myself in front of completely different albums and that grunge couldn't be a new musical genre, especially because there was nothing really new about it, excuse me. As soon as I discovered Soundgarden, I had Page and the guys in front of my eyes, just a bit more barbaric... I assure you that, thanks to news broadcasts and poorly informed magazines, even we fans weren't aware of what grunge really was; we were perplexed even about the pronunciation :-) ...I only know that it was like manna because we were living in a sort of rock medieval era... I know there's nothing new under the sun regarding Nirvana and their hometown mates, but at least they knew how to be appreciated.

One could say that Grunge is a cultural movement, artistic expression, and fashion phenomenon native to Seattle, perhaps... as a musical genre, it's hard to define; Soundgarden has nothing to do with Nirvana. The former is influenced by hard rock in the style of Zeppelin, while the latter draws from punk and garage.

I quote supersoul regarding the cover of Brain Salad Surgery, I actually use it as my avatar! Giger is pronounced Ghigher, he’s Swiss-German. To the reviewer, I ask, this Danzig, is it accessible to someone like me who digests prog metal quite well, like Tool, or is it better to steer clear? :-)
