Picchio Dal Pozzo Abbiamo Tutti I Suoi Problemi

@pibroch, I confirm, you wouldn't like them! What do you know about Italian prog (besides the usual 3-4)? Oh, one thing, are you really an engineer?? :-(((((

But why would the undergrowth of Italian progressive be STALE??????

Ha, the Picchio Dal Pozzo! I've never listened to this, but I know the namesake, which is probably even more eccentric and nonsensical than this one (I remember the titles of some pieces, "Seppia," "Cocomelastico," "Bofonchia"...). By the way, just to say, the album is dedicated to an unlikely Roberto Viatti... who do you think he is? :DDD The review is a bit too free for my tastes, but you deserve an extra point for the choice!

Anyway, some time ago I also mentioned that to approach prog, I would recommend Camel rather than diving right into the chirps of "Close To The Edge." And even then, someone pointed out to me that I was spouting a load of nonsense (as if that were a novelty!). I believe it depends a lot on the listener, how open they are, what kind of sensitivity they have, what musical background they come from, etc. etc. I thought, in short, that if someone is not "destined" to go crazy for prog, jumping straight into the exaggerated baroque style of Yes could make them give up on it altogether, perhaps shutting themselves off from the possibility of appreciating other things, like Canterbury, and so on. However, it's clear that this is a very rational approach and perhaps too much so.

I must have some sort of problem... I mean, I read Contemplation's posts and I say "well, yes, he's right," then I move on to ajeje's and, damn, he's right too! What's going on with this? :-)))

P.S. "this page demonstrates...", I wasn't referring to the review. Anyway, let's leave it at that, I didn't mean to stir up a mess, sorry.

@nero, however, just to be clear, I’m not upset with you (with anyone actually).

But, just to begin with, I haven't called anyone a racist nor do I intend to. As for Luxuria, she could easily have gone to the men's restroom, but that's not very relevant; what I wanted to say is simply that Gardini's reaction was exaggerated and completely out of proportion (but raped about what??), a bit like your reaction to a gay singer singing that phrase (I have the impression that much worse things could happen to you in life, or not?). As for the rest, I'm not part of any association or party, nor am I interested in it, and your argument can indeed be partially shared (especially the last part). The fact remains that this page demonstrates (not that we didn't already know) that certain prejudices and crass clichés are so deeply rooted that we use them regularly (often without malice) without realizing how offensive and stupid they can actually be. For example, you might know more than I do about gay venues, but I have the impression that the vast majority of the people who frequent them are "normal" guys (an awful expression) and not that kind of caricature you described (which is indeed a typical iconography, but - I believe - very far from the actual reality).

@ajeje, from your list, it seems that you quite like free jazz, am I wrong? :DDD Out of those 10 records, I only know one, damn how ignorant I feel :-(((
