Of course progressive metal exists!!! Dream Theater? Symphony X? Fates Warning? I don't know a lot, but it's still metal, so quite heavy. As for Genesis, I'm not sure... As for gothic (without growl), I'm currently listening to "Alternative 4" by Anathema, give it a try! Anyway, the experts in these genres will surely be able to recommend something more. I don't know much about Porcupine, but I don't think they're metal (maybe a bit in their later works?). Do you know new-prog?
