Very interesting...

@GrantNicholas, no. All the songs are by Cobain, except for "Scientless Apprentice," which was written by all the members of the band.

The review is fluid and well written. In my opinion, "All Apologies" does not "evidently" deal with Cobain's marriage; there may be a reference, but the meaning of the song is something else, as is clear from the title. Rather, it is "Heart Shaped Box" that talks about Kurt's love for his wife (the title refers to a heart-shaped box, filled with strange objects, that Love gave to Cobain). As far as I know, Francis Farmer was not an old madwoman; rather, she was driven to madness by a barrage of psychotropic drugs and electroshock due to her nonconformist and leftist attitudes (we're in the '30s). Cobain and his wife adored her, to the point that, it seems, Love wore a dress belonging to Francis Farmer at her wedding. If you want, there could be a lot more said about this album, like how the record label forced the band to do 2 more "marketable" remixes (Heart Shaped Box and Dumb), to change the cover (which originally was supposed to be the tangled mess of flowers and fetuses, later relegated to the back), and to modify the album name twice (which was initially "I Hate Myself and Want to Die," then "Verse Chorus Verse," a self-ironic reference to the conventionality of song structures). Then we could have talked a bit more about the lyrics, for example, the constant, obsessive references to medical details... Anyway, that’s fine, but you should try reviewing some lesser-known albums.

I completely agree with the latest comments. Nutshell... well, Nutshell... And yet I find and yet I find repeating in my head if I can't be my own, I'd feel better dead...

Mmm, am I mistaken or do I sense a subtle tone of polemic? :D

From what I've read, they really seem to deserve it. Congratulations on the Indiana Jones operation :D

@Nevskji, I've known the PJ for quite some time. In truth, I never really got into No Code much (right off the bat, I only remember "Sometimes," "Off He Goes," and "Present Tense"), unlike Vs and Vitalogy. At the moment, I'm listening to very little ""grunge"" (just a bit of Mudhoney here and there :D), but sooner or later I'll definitely pick it back up. I agree on Temple Of The Dog, essentially a Cornell album.

@Ozzy, it’s not that I’m horrified, I just don’t like it much. Is there something wrong with that? This album is great, Opeth are extraordinary, I can tolerate their growl because the music is fantastic, but I prefer the parts where he sings cleanly. Frankly, I don’t see what’s wrong with that.
