...needless to say that, despite the rumors, Hollywood had nothing to do with it because it was a British production by Horizon Pictures....

In a nutshell, it says "wealth is given not by armies and weapons but by the friends one acquires, not with gold but with loyalty. I leave you a stable kingdom if you are just and weak if you are wicked; concord makes small states flourish, while discord brings down even the greatest." More or less.

Hey, from Loggins & Messina besides "On Stage," I recommend "Mother Lode" where you'll find "Be Free" and "Move On," which are worth the purchase on their own.

Hey Lexus, introduce us to your sister, so we can pass the time in a different way instead of coming here to write bullshit on Debaser.

@bubi and what do you want me to think about Little Feat? I'm a Zappa fan, Lowell George and Roy Estrada come from Zappa and that guarantees top-level technique and inventiveness (not to mention surrealism in the lyrics), add to that an impressive sound made of blues, r & b, boogie, country, west coast, and gospel, and you have one of the greatest American bands of the 70s.

As a kid, I was quite excited by it; revisiting it as an adult and knowing the true story of Lawrence, who was an illegitimate son with particular tendencies discovered in Turkey, of an English baronet looking for his revenge in blood elsewhere, the film's resolution, which turns him into a Hamlet consumed by doubt, struck me as very Pontius Pilate. In this condition, Peter O'Toole would give a better performance in Lord Jim, a few years later, based on Conrad. Here, Omar Sharif remains magnificent, as does the cinematography, along with all the trappings of the battles in the desert that had thrilled me as a kid.

Cavani, may God save us and free us... at the time this film was a huge success for its scenes and sensitive themes, my uncle by marriage was subscribed to Il Borghese, the quintessential weekly of the Italian right at the time, which reduced itself to attaching "dirty" tapes including "Portiere di notte"...

@eletto I don’t think I attacked you; maybe you’re just too sensitive, which is why you said the film is meant to be moving. A review is one thing, and the film is another; many of you tend to equate a negative or positive judgment of a film with the review itself, which should be assessed (if one chooses to do so) beyond the value of the movie. This film can be considered good or bad, and there’s no arguing about that, criticizing the direction, the acting, the storyline, etc. However, I’m not convinced by the arguments presented in support, the rhetoric, the forced emotion, the predetermined cliché.
