Grace Slick & The Great Society Collector's Item

Welcome. Great choice to start with. For completists, I should mention that Sundazed has released a collection of all the studio material by the Great Society called Born To Be Burned, which is definitely worth a listen as well.

@Ale: in the evening go to bed earlier, otherwise you won't realize what you're writing :-) "(...) now you should be more honest, the guy not only...", you wrote that. About Gaetano, he said everything anyway. The Portuguese matter is much more important. I would have wanted Rafa. The fact is that with the man with the lip gloss, we would have NEVER won the Champions, that seems obvious to me. So it was necessary to change. And The Special was one of the few available coaches around. People who have seen the Chelsea trainings say he is very prepared, meticulous, a great worker, and above all very loved by the team. He may not be the most likable, and he makes plenty of stupid comments, but all we can do is cross our fingers.

First of all: welcome back, Odra! Tonight it's a clean sweep: both Ghemi and you agree with me! As for Ale, aside from the annoyance about my honesty, given that one of the few things I have left is intellectual honesty, it seems to me that the final quote from Nei garage di Milano Nord is just a self-deprecating joke. He's a singer-songwriter, he doesn't have the technical means of Bruce Cockburn, and ends up playing the same chord progression as "Ma il cielo." What’s going on? Damn, you play too. Have you ever warmed up with a G major and A major and started singing "Fate largo all' avanguardia, siete un pubblico di merda"?

Since I stirred the debate... It's well known how much I get along with Alessio and normally not so much with Ghemi. However, in this case, Ghemi is absolutely right. I've also been listening to only unz-unz lately. So it's not really a matter of music. We're talking about singer-songwriters. But LLDCE's record speaks about me, Ghemi, and Alessio. De Gregori talks about his own issues, and already, the music is disappointing... And the lyrics of LLCDE, Alessio, have nothing to do with Gaetano’s. Is he going to be condemned now because he has a similar voice? What should he do, castrate himself? There’s an "urgency" in his words that sweeps away all the dull fifty- and sixty-year-olds cited by Primi. The one De Gregori had, but over thirty years ago. Are we talking about this album, or what? P.S.: If I may conclude caustically, I would prefer if someone else did the review because Gustavo Tanz doesn't have the critical tools. :-)(Sorry, but you brought it out of me)

Dear Primiballi, just for a change, I disagree with you :-). If I may speak a bit presumptuously, considering I haven’t listened to the whole album, but just 4 or 5 tracks once, and the hit about ten times, I would ask for the grace of retirement. For who knows how many years he has been writing the same songs, mostly copied from Dylan (and not even the best Dylan but the regressed one) and stealing some rock’n’roll or country riffs that have been heard a billion times. The lyrics are always the same, with that unbearable half-full/half-empty poetic. The monstrous presumption does not escape him: he is an artist. Yes, and I’m Lester Bangs. Perhaps he was once, but now he is just a mediocre songwriter. As for Italian singer-songwriter music, if the major record labels keep proposing the same names, they could at least make an effort and look around. To give two examples: the latest album by Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica talks about Italy in a way that the chosen group you mentioned hasn’t been able to do for years. Bachi Da Pietra confronts the current American singer-songwriter scene without any awe. In other words, De Gregori has worn me out, quite a bit.

5 of affection... the review is a bit lengthy. And, as usual, you haven't reviewed what I wanted you to review, namely the new Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica, which I think Bugo is devouring.

Great piece. Just to let you know, I’m still stuck in the At The Drive-In era. I had no intention of straying, and after your flavorful notes, I won’t stray at all :-)

What a pathetic criticism. To critique, you need the right tools. This is not punk, it’s pop. If you can’t even understand that, shoot yourself up with Pink Floyd alongside Albano and text your boyfriend, it’s for the best.

I was already set to give you 1, and instead... analysis is both passionate and clear-headed. The album is, simply put, a masterpiece, an adjective that, for once, is not wasted.
