Antony and the Johnsons The Crying Light

I couldn't resist either. But you should have held off on writing the review until January 20th :-). After a couple of listens, it seems splendid to me, so for now, I'll exaggerate with a nice 5.

P.S.: Of course, the comment was for Yosif; it's just that I always have Vivis on my mind... :-)

Giovane Vivis, my love, it's not quite like you say. Up until the '80s, the B-side of 7-inch records often featured the same track in instrumental version. Then the era of remixes began, of which the New Order were masters, and so they started putting an extended version of the A-side on the B-side. It's true that in the punk era sometimes the B-side would feature a live version of the A-side, mainly for cost-saving reasons (the poorly recorded live performance was cheap). Finally, towards the end of the '80s, American rockers began to include acoustic versions of the A-side. In the case of Love Will Tear Us Apart, however, it was released in two versions due to the irreconcilable contrast between Curtis and Hannett (even though Deborah Curtis, in the bio mentioned by Boredom, states that the second version came about because Curtis received a Sinatra record as a gift, which influenced him greatly and led him to re-record it in the style of Sinatra). But ultimately, there are indeed differences, including how the rhythm is played and the speed.

@ Super:-))) Do you think I didn’t feel like a black dog when I wrote it? But, like you, I think we also have an educational duty. Minima moralia.

@ Super: what a bore! We even read the same books! I, however, read it when my then-girlfriend was writing her thesis on Pynchon (tout se tiens). Knowing my venerable age, you obviously can't expect me to remember that passage (I think it’s been sixteen years, and I hope also sixteen girls). It was the black dogs that puzzled me (name of an old band of mine that you wouldn’t know, from a book by McEwan, from a Warp record among the best ever produced in the electronic field... and finally from a small group of anarchists that maybe isn’t worth mentioning, or is it? Come on, we’re two old-timers...

Hi Ale, very funny (I had a good laugh). Note that in hp you’re below me, and I wonder what that means (?!!). I haven’t heard that yet. But since I’m a whore, no one can take that five away from you!

Good:-). @ Lux: following the dear words of our pontiff, for 2009 we could do without getting on each other’s nerves, right? @ Super: epperchemai am I a Sfaccimmo? I deserve a praise instead:-) @ Ale: ça va sans dire..., and who knows why I said it. P.S. But please send me your woman's thesis. @ Boredom: open a chapter sine fine. The biography of the lady has never completely convinced me for sincerity. The Joy live were certainly something else, but for the "purity" of the sound granted to them by Hannett, they can only be grateful (so much so that even the first New Order is produced by Hannett). That they weren’t convinced, as I say in the review, is shown by the fact that they released a double version of Love Will Tear Us Apart. @ Giovane Hardrock: rush to buy Unknown Pleasures and Closer, then if you like them, get Still, half with the first tracks before Unknown, half live. And then if you fall in love, the box set Heart and Soul, which contains almost everything.

@Super: what a pair of identical boring old farts we are :-). So, I confess, having always found the Sound a bit UEFA Cup, as Don would say, I’m totally lacking their vinyls (I only have cassettes), and I was wondering if it might be a good idea to enrich my New Wave section. I had forgotten about the Sound anyway, when this summer an old friend of mine played live I can't escape myself, and damn, it all came back to me—Sabine, Morene, Piere (yeah, they had those names, but they've aged poorly, I think, so they probably won't read this :-)).

Oops… luckily I didn’t comment yesterday, because otherwise there would have been even more controversy. Now that it's over, I’ll allow myself to say what I think. Having always supported your previous pages, Carlo, this time I'm a bit disappointed. In the sense that this time you really didn’t move me. Maybe a beautiful game doesn’t last long? Obviously, my advice is worth as much as the two of clubs when the trump is diamonds, but I had invited you to challenge the Hp by finally talking about an album. Your little stories, pour moi, of course, are starting to lose their appeal. I honestly don't want to hear about another Chiara, Peppina, and Genoveffa anymore. So, I can only echo Ale, Ole, Bartle, and the wicked Fidia. My esteem for you remains unchanged, of course; it’s just my humble opinion, which I hope you take as such @ Super: and I was just wondering if it wasn't time to reassess these Sound..., right?
