Okay, I saw what they did to "Guerra" with the new Litfiba... mmm... so, in my opinion, the same discussion applies here... the Litfiba with Cabo are not the Litfiba; they are an Italian rock band that, in the case of "Guerra" and many other songs, has given their own interpretation of something unimitable, like "Guerra" with a wild Pelù on vocals... we must consider the atmosphere; "Guerra" is the classic song that many kids today wouldn't understand, very close to the style of Bauhaus in some respects... I think Ghigo with Cabo tried to rejuvenate the band, to make it current, not considering the fact that in doing so they would lose many of the older fans to gain just a handful of new ones (after all, in Italian rock today there is much better than Litfiba... and even during the time of "Mondi Sommersi," for that matter...). In any case, there is no comparison between the old "Guerra" and the new one...

Thank you, matteowolf, for the appreciation, but after so long without writing on Debaser due to reasons like morons insulting you over every little thing and furious arguments about pointless stuff, I tried the other day to post a review of a movie that was rejected in favor of ridiculous nonsense, especially rejected by those who had the courage to feature on the front page the drivel of someone who claims not to care about Pavarotti's death and would empathize more with Chris Martin... or who knows who. Tziganata is really fantastic, but I didn't want to write a track-by-track review that ultimately always ends up being kind of like that... As for the Cabo issue, I see the blatant imitation mainly in elettromacumba (horrible), less so in insidia and being or seeming like that, but as I said before, they could very well have been two albums played by a good Italian rock band and not by a name like Litfiba. Cabo was clearly chosen by Ghigo for the resemblance to Pelù, in my opinion. I haven't heard Guerra sung by them yet, but I'll look for it now... you got me curious! As for CCCP and DiFramma, I wouldn't make rankings... they are the history of the new Italian rock: end of story.

I just heard them on their MySpace.. very 90s England but they seem good! They might lack a bit of innovation though.. anyway, I'm happy to know that there are still people around to exchange a few opinions about Debaser!

The review is interesting but could be written better. As for Litfiba, if I may join the discussion since I am a big fan, I can tell you that the production of the best (and most innovative) Litfiba stops with Litfiba3. After that, they released very beautiful albums in my opinion, like El Diablo, but very inconsistent in terms of truly exceptional songs, with mediocre songs alternating. Infinito contains at least 2-3 nice tracks and shows Pelù’s more pop side.

I hated the post-Pelù Litfiba for Elettromacumba, but I loved them for the gritty Insidia and the well-crafted Essere o Sembrare, although I believe they would have done well to change their name to at least nominally detach from a path that no longer suits them. As for Pelù's solo work, he expressed his more pop side in the first 3 albums (but UDS is really terrible, and having seen him in concert this year and him performing just one song from that album, I believe he realized it himself)... with In Faccia, he returned to a good rock sound somewhat comparable to that of Mondi Sommersi. He is always magnificent in concert anyway, with Lanza being spectacular.

Regarding the new album, Ghigo clarified that the singer has been chosen or will be chosen from the vibrant underground scene in Florence filled with great bands (try listening to Gli Scaramouche, for example)... he has a great human relationship with Pelù, but musically, Ghigo said he couldn't stand Pelù's new singing style because it’s too exaggerated, and according to him, Pelù would poorly tolerate his guitar solos. I believe that Pelù would be in favor of a reunion, but Ghigo is not, although I think it will happen within a few years, perhaps for a tour and not for an album. Then there’s the Litband project, which brings together former historical members of Litfiba (I think even the legendary Maroccolo and the singer from Luciferme) for a tour that has never started (or it started and I missed it). Finally, there’s Cabo’s solo project, who opened a personal website some time ago (at least a year, I think) but has not provided any updates since. In the meantime, he has produced 2 bands, including Gli Scaramouche.

In short, a lot of chaos! If you want, on my blog RECENSIONI LIBERE I just posted a review of Desaparecido. Thank you for having barely tolerated my Litfibomania rants.

I haven't seen the movie, but the review is really well written... I'm curious... did they post this review yesterday? If so, the editors sent my review written on Friday to the trash... bastards.

bartleboom, I haven't received many insults, it's true... but only because I haven't dared to review something like the Beatles, Litfiba, or whatever I know... U2. Here, there are people who, if you say you like U2, will tell you you're gay, asshole, shit, ignorant, idiot, and maybe you even killed your mother... I'm not saying everyone, but there are people completely brainless who wander around here... and you'll tell me not to pay attention to them... but how can you not pay attention to certain assholes in whose heads the two neurons that are left keep colliding? And it's not just my issue... it’s also about how others are treated... woe betide you if you fall into the bad graces of the late Sanjuro, who will then haunt you for life, woe to you if you touch people like caz, who will turn against you even with the shit you have in the toilet... meh... I say mehmahmah...
