after watching scary movie 4 and hot movie last year in line, I decided that I will never go see a movie like that again... evidently, I was right.

Anyway, going back to the previous discussion, I believe that before listening to Slipknot, there are a thousand other bands to check out, such as Slayer, the early Metallica, and various other trash bands. And with this, I don't want to compare them to Slipknot. Then you could move on to Faith No More and the latest from Living Colour, just to understand the origins of this damn nu metal. Then Korn, One Minute Silence, and also the early Limp Bizkit, why not, oh right, and then Deftones, Rage Against the Machine, and Machine Head. And after this, another billion bands come before Slipknot.
