@Sanjuro. I really like you and I think you are very useful to DeB, but if 99% of the music bores you, the problem is yours, not ours. So don't try to impose absolutes and don't be too harsh on reviewers who express different concepts and/or contradict your own.

@Pretazzo: I wasn't talking about what DeBaser wants to be but about what many stubbornly (and uselessly) try to make it become. My comment should be read as an acknowledgment (with personal satisfaction) of the failure of this attempt, but also of the fact that, as usual, there is a risk that your nice speech (and these topics in general) won’t be grasped by those who need to reflect on them the most. I just wanted to emphasize this issue to avoid that. That’s all.

Well, I hope Led Zeppeling is a typo, because it’s not true that everything is destined to fade into human memories, and in particular (for better or for worse) this fate will likely not befall any of the names you mention.
Regarding emerging bands, I could somewhat agree, but apart from the fact that Sum are no longer an emerging band—they probably never were, being destined irrevocably to a meteor-like fate—without judging the music they produced, especially since my knowledge is limited to the videos MTV aired, I can only agree with Ghemison’s remarks about musical skills. I’d like to add a note: I believe every genre has its own dignity, and one of the (few) flaws of this wonderful site is that many users often underestimate genres (electronics comes to mind when talking about a genre close to both me and good Ghemi) based on a few concepts and many preconceptions (sorry for the pun).
That said, looking at the tastes that emerge from your reviews, the problem isn’t so much that you like Sum (to stay on topic), but that you provide very few arguments to defend your ideas, citing only quite superficial considerations (the more mischievous might think that it’s also hard to find solid arguments in Sum’s music, but my point is not specific to them; it’s a general one, and the mentioned band is just an example). Therefore, I recommend you not to stop writing reviews but to continue doing so by trying to add a bit more depth—not necessarily critical (which few possess; I certainly have little of it, preferring the path of subjective feelings, but alongside me many “wise men” who define themselves as critics)—at least emotional depth, because you seriously lack this too. Patience with tastes that are untouchable, but your reviews are merely descriptive and limit themselves to presenting sales numbers or similar parameters of popular consensus, neglecting what is most important: what you feel, in short, the emotions.
And I’ll tell you, if you keep reviewing bands like Sum, you’ll still get the same scores, but I believe that if you try to delve deeper into the discussions in the sense I just illustrated, sooner or later you’ll want to review other things too, maybe less juvenile and MTV-addicted.

I remind user Monta that in DeB there is no additional cost when exceeding 200 characters, so I would like to advise using all the vowels that our wonderful language possesses... how much I enjoy being a pain in the ass ;-)

#Fest: it doesn't seem to me that most DeB users talk about "I like it," but that's just my opinion, and all in all I like this because I can annoy more. Anyway, I made a mistake in writing; it was eoni, not eonio, obviously. @Punk: I'm sorry this discussion bores you; I find it very interesting and especially very relevant to the spirit of the review. Man does not live by bread alone.

Well.. honestly, I’ve never really cared much about who got there first to do something, but whether I liked it or not. From my perspective, discussing (or criticizing) Relativism is also Relativism, and therefore, the biggest supporters of this philosophy, in my view, are actually its detractors (I know it’s complicated..). For the rest, you say very, very shareable things, just one note: given that on this site there has been an attempt to make objectivism triumph (if that’s even a term...), why do you think this strong relativistic backlash is happening right now? Bye!

Scaruffi does not underestimate Italian music but, as he himself admits, he knows very little about it, and consistently avoids delving deeper into the subject. I do not agree with the "TMR" discussion; regarding the criticism, Bangs and others held him in very high regard already in unsuspecting years. As for everything else you mention, I might even concede, having never been a die-hard Beatles fan, for example, but you still underestimate the fact that certain comparisons should not even be addressed. If the main principle (and it is Scaruffi's, for example) is to evaluate the importance of an album based on how original and innovative it has been (which I might accept), one cannot avoid admitting that in the pop genre, the Beatles were pioneers, just like Captain in free jazz, for example. If, on the other hand, the principle is to consider one genre more artistically valid than another (a discussion I do not share at all, except in a couple of exceptions regarding Liscio and Italian Melodic Music), then I reiterate that the issues are very different, and in all this, the principle of "degustibus" is destined to triumph because, unfortunately and fortunately, what is objective in music only exists in the technical aspect (and often not even that), and often in this field I hear very questionable things being said by individuals (who are often critics as well) who have very little technical competence. I am obviously not talking about you, as so far you have remained firmly in the strictly philosophical realm. Bye!
