Does It Offend You, Yeah? You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into

The single struck me as a great piece. I intend to explore them further.

As it turns out, it's available for free listening on My Space. I'm getting to work.

As a huge Coldplay fan, I will review it after it's released (I've lost this habit with Feeder, but I'm already regretting it), so be it if it's the thirtieth review. However, I can say one thing about Violet Hill: allow me to disagree with what was written above. If Violet Hill sounds like Oasis, then Hey Jude could be a track by Sepultura. I would give an arm if the new Oasis single was as good as Violet Hill.

I wasn't excited by it. Only the title track and The Switch And The Spur are above average. The single sounds too much like Blue Orchid (as if it were remade by The Who). Nice review.

I go against the grain, but for me, the best performance by Carey is the Riddler in Batman Forever! :)

@ pixies: yes, you're right. I don't objectively know the sales figures of the bands you've mentioned, but I believe getting into the Billboard is the bare minimum. The problem is that usually they are bands that (excluding Linkin Park and Maroon 5, both having exploded even in Europe) once they get in, they drop out after three or four weeks selling a tenth of what artists like Usher, Mariah Carey, and the like sell. It’s clear that 3 Doors Down is not a band that sells three copies, but they’re also not exactly "export material." For example: this very album by 3 Doors Down has only hit one top ten worldwide outside of the USA, which is the German one (at number six).

Personally, if I have to take a trip with the window down, arm out, big sunglasses on, and a hot girl in the passenger seat, I’d rather blast Nickelback than Low. There’s a type of music for every occasion, right? :D

@ pixies77: categorizing Nickelback within the 3 Doors Down/Puddle of Mudd or generally in the melodic American rock is partially incorrect. While the latter can be framed as pop-rock bands heavily influenced by more accessible grunge sounds (Nirvana during the Nevermind era), the Canadians play a "glossy" hard rock influenced by metal. The pop episodes of Nickelback that Gallagher refers to are almost all concentrated in their latest album (coincidentally, as you rightly pointed out, a massive seller), or in some singles from previous albums (like Someday for example). I recommend listening to tracks by Nickelback such as Because Of You, Side Of A Bullet, or Flat On The Floor. If you only focus on the radio singles or the latest album, you risk developing a seriously distorted idea of their music.
