This review is awesome! I've only heard a couple of their tracks. It's definitely not my style, but they didn't seem too bad, to be honest... However, hearing you talk about them makes it sound like they only make albums to compete with their peers in terms of sales, like it's some kind of league? Wow SurferKangaroo, I've waited too long to do my review, I knew someone would beat me to it... Kudos for the "guitaristic" analysis, I also play the guitar and really appreciated it. However, if I may point out, I don't really hear that much country in the album. I mean, the influences are there, but in my opinion, they are marginal compared to a somewhat personal rock that takes the lead. For me, anyway, Butler shines the most in fingerpicking, even in those ballads that you might not favor too much. On YouTube, there's a kind of clinic by Butler where he explains (with an incomprehensible Australian accent and French subtitles) the main techniques he uses. Check it out, your jaw will drop when you see it!
