In my opinion, there is no better way to truly listen to music than by relaxing in a completely dark room with a pair of headphones on. This is especially true for that type of music I like to call "intimate", namely music that asks for nothing more than to remain enclosed in the space of our perceptions, drawing scenarios so intimate, in such a discreet way, that no distraction should allow us to interfere with it. This category includes Shopping for Images by the all-female Norwegian trio, Midaircondo.

Right from the first track, "Although I Heard", one can sense the line that, more or less, permeates the entire work. It is a delicate, almost weeping electronic loop, on which various humorous effects and a timid piano layer. A mix of electronics and instrumentation on which a whispered voice appears. Bjork immediately comes to mind; but while in the work of the Icelander the wonderful vocal evolutions seem to climb the snow-capped peaks of Nordic landscapes, here instead they are observed from the warmth of a cabin.
The CD continues timidly, almost whispered, with splendid pieces like "Could You Please Stop", or the wonderful monotony of "Eva Stern, Shake It" and "I'll Be Waiting". A change in a less melodic key with "Lo-Fi Love" and "Perfect Spot", but with the precious "Serenade" the line is resumed in which Midaircondo know how to express themselves magnificently, and which will continue for the remaining pieces, up to the chiming of "Who's Playing" that so much reminds one of Vespertine by Bjork.

The work of Midaircondo is ultimately, a little gem to be thoroughly enjoyed. Pervaded by intimate electronic minimalism and splendid delicacy, their pieces are little gems that bloom in the Norwegian winter made to charm the listener's soul.
