Dino Risi Il Sorpasso
Voto:
Beautiful, but the ending was predictable and "right" (forgive me the term).

Woody Allen Il Dittatore Dello Stato Libero Di Bananas
Voto:
Hilarious. Anyway, yes, the de-reviewer is right, it moves in big leaps and this initially disoriented me a bit.
Marco Ferreri La grande abbuffata/La grande bouffe
Voto:
Yes, that's it. I checked.

Thank you for the advice. I will take care of it. I saw the initial few minutes a long time ago, then I had to run off. But it's the one with Celentano, right?
Metheny/Mehldau Quartet
Voto:
Of course, your constant comments on Metheny have piqued my curiosity. I'll read the review later...

I refrain from voting to avoid ruining the average and getting lynched by almost all Debaserians. :D
But I've changed my mind about "La Grande Abbuffata." It is indeed a work of denunciation, a critique. Current. But it's too easy to be critical instead of proposing something. Same goes for "Salò," a film I haven't seen and have no intention of watching (the review and comments were enough to shock me). Sometimes a pinch of hope is needed; otherwise, what's the point of living if you constantly have images of vices and horrors in your head? 1 symbolic point for both films mentioned. Would you recommend a serene movie?
Martin Scorsese The Departed
Voto:
"and I find it absurd to only know them for the more recent films" (quote)..I'm not a great cinema expert....I watched it because it was shown recently.
Then again, I've never seen a film by Dino Risi, by Fellini, by Pasolini, by Bunuel, Lang, or Polanski...(not that I brag about it), but I am free to choose which films to watch and which ones not to. Of course, I would like to see Scorsese's earlier films...

Voto:
I liked it. However, keep in mind that I've only seen this by Scorsese.
Mel Gibson The Passion
Voto:
The review is superb, but the film, as usual, I haven't seen. I don't even intend to watch it.
