Beautiful also are "don't cry" and "Would'nt that be nice"... The innovation lay in the orchestral approach of the arrangement. Of course, the Beatles, with a sound that was decidedly less "Hollywood" and more European, seem more modern today, but at the time, those melodies and orchestrations were a complete novelty for a rock 'n' roll band. As an example, just listen to "Good Vibrations" (even though it is not included in the album but was recorded during the sessions); it is impossible not to notice the complex construction of the piece and the subtleties of the arrangements... The greater influence on the sound, however, comes from the legendary Phil Spector.
