I reread it a few months ago after so many years, and it really made a good impression on me (while the sequel could frankly have been avoided). Then, aside from the usual discussions that are happening above, it must be acknowledged that Crichton has always been a cut above most of the "bestselling authors" he is often compared to. (The film is a pale copy of the original that essentially focuses on the adventurous aspect, but as a kid, I liked it a lot).

Crust is punk, it has nothing to do with death nor with other forms of extreme metal and so on. Grind can have something of death, but in this case as well, not necessarily (easy example, what do the original Napalm Death have that is metal? In my opinion, nothing; for me, Scum is a hardcore record, a very atypical hardcore, but hardcore). Just to say, death is a genre that is tendentially technical, while crust? It is the nemesis of technique, take anarchopunk or the rawest d-beat, dirty it even further and make a huge mess, zero technique (and I like it that way!) and who cares. Oh, anyway, crust + Sweden = love!

So, quick replies: @cla: did you know that the name of the group actually means that _ @terry: the cover really reminds me of the first System of a Down album and a bit of "You Fail Me" by Converge @sylvian: but you know, I think there’s something of theirs you might not love, but... if you get the chance, look for something, or ask Mah! @icnarf: but I listen to ND more when I’m in a good mood.
