Nice review! I won't rate the album because I listened to it distractedly as a kid... I'll catch up. Thank you!

I absolutely didn't say that; I said that in this particular album I find no musical expression but something else (deliberate cacophony, pre-psychedelia, call it what you want...). My impression (I said mine...) is that good old Don had very little to say musically and therefore was floundering as best he could, supported by an environment that was certainly not Aspromonte (with all my love for my Calabrian friends) and back then and now by a particular critic, who is undoubtedly an intellectual snob and often self-referential, and let me add, for me extremely superficial. That said, I really respect your tastes (remember I said it’s not crap and I didn’t vote) but it’s undeniable that there is a studied effort to reclaim this artist; if you like it, good for you, I was simply sharing my opinion. Then, since when discussing this album the greatest virtue that continues to be repeated by enthusiasts is that it was innovative (rarely do you talk about the fundamental components of music: melody, harmony, rhythm, etc.), I can agree, but innovative for its own sake because there are very few true emulators (not those who name-drop him in various interviews to seem cool now that it's trending…). I hope I haven’t bored you too much. Bye!

In fact, intellectualism is only in those who listen, and my reference was to this fact, not to the record in particular. If you want, reread my posts because I don't want to bore you any further. Bye! ;-)
P.S.: Sorry, but instinctively, this record has very little; my impression is that it was carefully crafted just to impress...

Of course, it wasn't a criticism towards you or anyone else; it was a general observation (and you'll agree with me, very general...). I can also agree with your argument, but the fact that there is more intellectual and less listenable music around doesn’t prove that this is one of them. As for the rest, what can I say? I'm sure this captain of imitators has found his way, but to convince me that it’s fundamental is quite another matter. I repeat my impression: avant-garde for its own sake and nothing more (hey, I’m not saying it’s awful, huh!). The true innovators (I remind you that music must also be harmony) are elsewhere. Here I find a different concept of art, that’s all... It doesn’t take much to astonish, you know... Goodbye! ;-)

Hi Proprio! What can I say, everyone considers more or less accessible what they want and this depends a lot on individual experiences. I repeat, I didn't want to rate the album because for me, it's not evaluable. This revival in tastes of works that would otherwise be considered excellent avant-garde things but not SEMINAL (how I hate this term but I must use it to make myself understood) makes me a bit suspicious. You mention names I don't know very well (besides Stockhausen, which seems to lean more towards classical, in my opinion, rather than really contemporary, even though it is contemporary.. help, I’m getting tangled up! Anyway, you understand me...).
Honestly, I think that if one forces themselves to listen to something ten thousand times just because someone very authoritative (not for me) and, in this case, self-referential, cites it as the best album of the century (with few and elusive reasons, by the way), they will inevitably end up liking it.
My hope is that this is not the case for the strapping young folks who frequent this nice site.
That said, I send you my affectionate greetings!

I've never liked the intellectualism of the '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s, '20s... etc. etc. Simply unbearable disco, suitable only for sterile discussions about how innovative it is, how seminal, how underrated it is for the merits it has had (?), bla, bla, bla, bla, bla...
Too bad it's not real life... and for this reason, I don't support it because it's actually not a musical work but something else... I don't know if it's beautiful or ugly, but something else... (ah Scaruffi, Scaruffi...)... and I’ll go away screaming like a madman!
Anyway, a very nice review, well done!
