I know, in fact that’s what I was emphasizing: Rodari didn't just shuffle them around; he gave them a new dimension, recreating them in a sense. One could say that Rodari was a creator just like the Grimms were. Those who wrote Shrek made a simple (though clever, in my opinion) parody without creating anything, but that doesn’t mean they should be criticized: if only there were more people capable of parodying like that!

The humor of Shrek (which, by the way, I like up to the second one) has nothing to do with that of the great Rodari; they are not even comparable. Both are incredibly original in their own way.
