I was led astray by the phrase "it is one of many examples of the great American cartoon school, of a different substance and depth compared to the giant robots and monsters from Japan that would invade the planet just a few years later," which seemed to emphasize a more "artistic" discussion rather than an "intimate" one. I much preferred "Wacky Races," but this is enjoyable too: the review would be good if it didn’t slip on that criticism of "giant robots and Japanese monsters," which was quite avoidable for millions of reasons. The simplest being that the two things (this type of cartoon and that other one) are incomparable, both in style and underlying message, to the more complex idea that among those "giant robots" true masterpieces have emerged, both stylistically and narratively (narrative in terms of plot), which have probably reached higher expressive peaks than any cartoon made by Hanna & Barbera. While they are both greats of humorous animation, they have rarely managed to go beyond the boundaries of the latter. The 5 is still for the affection and the memories.

In any case, however you see it, I think none of our positions are unfounded but stem from the "affection" that we feel for the Italian indie scene, and it’s obvious that they are influenced by tastes, experiences, and why not, sympathies and antipathies (I’m the first to admit that I sometimes struggle to be objective with certain artists, both positively and negatively). That said, I believe I don’t have much else to add on the topic at hand, so I thank you for stopping by and for the interesting conversation. Bye!
