The garbage collectors only matter until '51. After that, no other garbage collector has done their job significantly. // I miss Walterstarman a bit.

Damn, I didn't know anything about Firewater, thanks guys. You see, in the end, even the lost causes come in handy.

Dave, were you serious when you said "if you want to give me tips, I'll gladly accept them"? I hope so; in that case, just like with classical music, you'll see that your willingness to listen will pay off. Try Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Slint, Nine Inch Nails, Portishead, Four Tet, Morphine, Matt Elliott... and others can definitely add something.

Speaking of jazz/rap contaminations, I’m not an expert in the field, but I can mention Soul Coughing, who were an exceptional band. Here’s another thing to listen to to rethink the idea that "nothing new after '77."

Alright, Dave asked for some tips showing willingness to listen, and it seems fair to give them to him, without messing around. Let’s do one each (Tom Waits aside, since he was mentioned earlier - but then again, you either love or hate Tom, and I think Dave will hate him). I say "EP+6" by Mogwai. Just for the sake of it.

Sorry, it's Swordfishtrombones from '83, not Rain Dogs which came a little later. Well, it doesn't change anything, after all we're talking about musical ectoplasms, sound zombies.

Then Tommaso tried too, and out came Rain Dogs. But in my opinion, he must have recorded it earlier, at least in 1976.
