PS The change in tempo doesn't seem so shocking to me, nothing wonderful or scandalous, it takes a bit of flatness away from the song, it would be worse without it.

Um, no, really "attention-seeking whore" isn't quite the right translation (also because I would never dare to call madame a whore). Attention whore is someone who is very attention-seeking, plain and simple. The connotation of "whore" in this case isn't strictly sexual. And it translates much better in English.
