In fact, fabioz, it sounds strange to me that the "worldwide critics" praise Van Halen. What do you mean by worldwide critics? Please clarify! (Not to argue, I’m the ignorant one about VH, so I want to understand) ...hi

Hi fabioz. Aside from the merits of the greatness of Van Halen (I won’t weigh in since I’m not a fan of hard rock / heavy metal, but I believe many here will raise their eyebrows at your lavish praise), the review is decent and heartfelt, but you could pay a bit more attention to the form and structure... I, who don’t know much about Van Halen, didn’t gain a much clearer understanding of their music from your words. Anyway, welcome, you have potential!

SouthMan... :-( you're not very kind. Anyway, don't confuse the "U2 phenomenon" with their scope from a strictly musical point of view. In that sense, their first album is the only one that's truly appreciated... for the rest, they've released albums that were utterly predictable in every era they came out (including Pop). On the other hand, R.E.M. as a phenomenon are almost non-existent (when compared to U2), but musically... they evolved the ballad over 20 years with consistently high quality... nothing, nothing to say: R.E.M. are so much better!

I can't speak so clearly about It's A Wonderful Life. For me, it's like Ziggy or Tommy for Mr_Iko. This review does it well; with poetry and the right emphasis on "craftsmanship." The only note, however, is that I picked up an excessive reference to the typicality of everyday experiences that would emerge from Linkous's music. On the contrary, for me, the world (musical and lyrical) of Sparklehorse is unreal: the "nightlight" that shines on the pieces (beautiful image, axel) illuminates characters, stories, and thoughts that are absolutely bizarre, fairy-tale-like from a humble and senseless story, almost catatonic. I quote and translate the text of "Babies on the Sun," the last one, the most beautiful: "the sound of your voice / raised cat graves / the clatter of your steps / woke bat caves / babies on the sun / your first burning breath / was a symphony / and a ship full of horses / was sinking in the sea." Very slow. With a strong crackle of an old record underneath. Beautiful. Mother of pearl, the whole album.
