Detachment Kit They Raging. Quiet Army

This album is phenomenal! And so is the review, good job trell! "High Seas" is my favorite: especially towards the end when they linger with that guitar riff, slowing it down and isolating it. Great job DK!

just two verses to make you grasp the "moving raggedness" of Linkous. From Saturday: "You are a car / you are a hospital / I'd walk to hell and back / to see you smile / on Saturday." From Tears On Fresh Fruit: "I couldn't do nothing but watch as her tears / fell on fresh fruit." And you should hear those pearls of music. In fact, tonight I'll put on some samples, alright.

Another excerpt from the interview... "With Grandaddy, I think we steal from each other all the time. It kind of freaks me out if I read that sort of thing. I don't read music papers. If I'm on tour and they're laying around, I'll look at them and I've read a few reviews where they mention Sparklehorse in comparison with new bands. It made me feel bad, like a veteran or something."
What are you doing when you're not touring or recording? "Usually sitting in my house on top of a mountain. I got trapped in the house by a bear a few weeks ago. A big black bear and I couldn't go out for a few hours and that was a good day - getting trapped in the house by a bear." Whereabouts is this then? "The Smoky Mountains. There's a lot of musicians down there. Mostly country and bluegrass musicians. I don't really have friends who are musicians. I have friends who hunt. Guys that come over the house and they're covered in deer blood." :) Okay, I'll stop now.

Linkous about the upcoming album: "The next one, I think, is going to be way more up-tempo pop songs." Has he reached an agreement with Tom Barman about this whole up-tempo song thing? I quote MaledettaPrimavera: what the hell does up-tempo mean? :)

Sigh... I get emotional because it's so beautiful... Sorry... but I adore Linkous maybe even more than SKC (whom I love). The life of a music lover is tough. And I vote for you again, zigghio!

"Vivadixie..." was really missing among the reviews of Linkous (well, actually the Dancing Hoods would be missing too... but who has them?). We're truly talking about one of the top 5 albums of the '90s... even though I don't quite agree with all the tags you've mentioned and even if I slightly prefer "It's A Wonderful Life." Anyway, what matters is the absolute value of Mark Linkous's style and poetic vision (which is not just voice and guitar: it encompasses ALL of Sparklehorse, even if not as the "material performer"), and you're right to emphasize that! The simple music, the absurd sounds, the surreal atmospheres... and damn, you're right to mention "Spirit Ditch"... it's wonderful. Essential, spectral, fragile, and at the same time so 'dense.' The praise of slowness... just like many songs of that fucking genius.

:D yeah... and I almost forgot: the label that Feist records for (Arts&Crafts) was actually founded by Broken Social Scene. Their frontman (the nice guy of the crew) confirmed it to me before offering zzz and joser some American peanuts.
