...Let's be clear, after "Shootenanny!" which was truly flat, this one is a gem! There, the songs seemed written in the era of solo records, with naïve and predictable pop-rock, while here Mr. E's fragile and quirky style shines again. In short, not a masterpiece but certainly not a disappointment, on the contrary. See you later.

I was about to write it (I would have needed a few more listens), but reading it from you is truly a pleasure. An album that really has the extra-musical strength you talk about. But I won’t rate it because, on first listens, it seems to me that’s actually its only strength, while from a strictly musical point of view, I haven't heard anything overwhelming except a compendium of the best insights from "Electro-Shock Blues" and "Daisies Of The Galaxy." Beautiful songs, though. Checkout Blues, for example, is among the best Mark has ever written. But I don’t know, overall 33 songs give a sense of "already heard." I’m probably wrong and I’ll change my mind when, on subsequent listens, the album sinks under my skin.
