That they are similar, and everything else you say is undoubtedly true, I was just saying that I disagree with saying "if one doesn't know the Mercury albums, they don't miss anything if they know the Flaming Lips well," because it's not true. As much as the exchange of sensibilities is evident, there are differences and I've pointed out some of them. It would be like saying "listen to Faust, you can forget about the rest of krautrock"...

Come on, how can you say "if someone doesn't know the Mercury records, they're not missing anything if they know the Flaming Lips well"? Okay, they are similar bands, and sure, it might be a provocative statement to proclaim your tastes, but come on... in some ways, they are really different, both in the psychedelic phase and in the dream-pop phase, always much more "guitar-driven" the FL (with the necessary proportions), and then Donahue's voice (it might not be to everyone's liking, sure) stands to Coyne's like a petal stands to a handkerchief. Tempo (without wanting to imply that one is better than the other). Also, the fact of pointing out the MR from Deserter's onward as easy listening, whatever... if that's the case, the latest FL seem much more accessible to me, or at least from the reactions I see when I play both for people, that's how it seems. For sure, I don't see any other bands that sound like them (thankfully they are pop now), unless they're imitating them (like Yuppie Flu from their second album); the same goes for the FL. Cheers :)

Great piece Car Wash Hair (how nice, you reminded me that they performed it live at the "acoustic" showcase a few months ago, it was a nice gift from them). I also think Very Sleepy Rivers is just so, so, so right. Anyway, it’s true that with MR and FL you can never talk about one without bringing up the other... for me, though - now that I've practically heard the entire discography of both, even "Zaireeka" finally! - the MR win, both in the early psychedelic phase and in the recent fairy tale/dreamy one.

Donz, in these photos you brutally resemble the singer of Wet Wet Wet. (Wet in this case would be Wet Josi_, Wet Innescare, and Wet Maledetta Primavera...)

No way, I’m gay, I only violated donz in Londonderry (and I was violated by Innescare). PS Toni. There’s no comparison. (I would gladly let him violate me)

Damn, you totally caught me. 1 for my pose. But if I say it now, I'm a poser. If I say it while biking, am I a mooser?

The mercury would be there too, but it doesn't flow because it's clogged by the foundation!
