I reiterate, despite Dave's harmless and trivial provocations towards me: DE ANDRÉ was a SONGWRITER, NOT A POET!!!! His lyrics had an intrinsic poetic quality, but poetry is something else: it is musicality without having to resort to music!!! Poets are UNGARETTI, LEOPARDI, QUASIMODO, LUZI, BERTOLUCCI, MANZONI, and others... There is a difference between poets and songwriters, and I believe that De André would say what I think of himself...
