what the anonymous person says (but who are you? identify yourself! after all, we’re discussing constructively!) is partly true for me, because, for example, Repubblica (and its inserts) hype Franz Ferdinand a lot, not just saying that the album is good, but making embarrassingly bad comparisons: best band in the world, Beatles here, U2 there...this is exaggerated, the young lads still have a lot of growing to do (and it’s still uncertain whether they’ll reach those levels of quality and fame) but...but I continue to say that the album is not mediocre, not at all, maybe a bit unoriginal, but how many bands in recent years can say they've "invented" something? I think of Sigur Rós and CocoRosie, both initially highly praised, only to find some opponents when they continued to produce songs in their style because the same people who FIRST idolized them began to turn up their noses...guys, "de gustibus non est disputandum," but this album is garbage only for those who don’t like the genre! bye easy! :)

I'm going against the tide: I like it. The single first made me cringe, but little by little it got stuck in my head: the other songs are really catchy, when you listen to them again you always say "oh yeah! this one goes like this!" and you end up humming the melody. Considering that these guys have made two albums and there's not a song that's clearly inferior to the others, that doesn't seem like a small feat... maybe they're a bit overhyped, sure, but it almost seems like everything that everyone talks about has to be criticized outright... (this is a very general discussion that goes beyond just music, so no one should feel implicated, okay!)

In an interview I read the other day, when asked "where did the initial fragment of 'include me out' come from?", Tom Barman replied: "I wanted to use a snippet from the radio for this intro, which isn’t exactly one of the most original ideas in the world. One night, at one-thirty, I tuned into the medium wave, because there you can find old and crackly BBC programs. The first station I stumbled upon was an American radio broadcasting a documentary about the shuttle that was sent into space at the end of the '60s, to explain to extraterrestrial beings what humanity was, and it contained all the masterpieces created by man, like the songs of the Beatles and similar things. That snippet was perfect because of the sound, as it referenced the cover, and for what the recorded voice said: 'it’s a sequence of sounds, of thunderstorms and lightning...'."
