LA RECENSIONE

Who says that when you have an ice cream, the flavors have to be either only fruit or only cream-based?
Who says that gifts must be given only exactly on the day of special occasions?
Who says that to care for someone, you have to go through months/years of more or less regular meetings?

"Happy birthday! ...and write me a review!"

Only God knows how much I care about keeping the promises I make: I'm human, so sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don't, but in this case, my (characteristic, I must add) guilty conscience can rest easy.

Here I am, then, to talk about these "Archie Bronson Outfit," an English band on their first CD.
I start listening in absolute ignorance, and the first guitar riff reminds me of Tom Morello's, a sound very similar to Rage Against The Machine, but when the voice comes in, choked, dirty, as if the song was recorded live without any post-production tweaks, I realize it was just an impression.
Their sound settles on very retro tones, bass, drums, guitar, and ZERO electronics: at certain moments, the Black Crowes came to mind, and in others (especially the slower songs), I compared the singer's voice to Jim Morrison's (not to seem blasphemous, eh!).
So, I search for some information online and find both confirmation of my suspicions (many songs were recorded on the first take) and the right definition for their type of music: a "vintage rock & roll" that winks at the sound of The Who and classic psychedelia.
Even though I'm no expert in this genre, I find it an apt description.

10 songs for a total of just under 40 minutes of rock that enthusiasts of the genre will surely appreciate: others might find it a bit tiring in the long run, but I still recommend giving it a listen!

Oh! I almost forgot!
I like strawberry and stracciatella ice cream (the kind with whole chunks of dark chocolate!), I like receiving gifts even if they're late, and the person who gave me this CD I've seen for a few days throughout my life, and I hear from less often than I'd like, but I can definitely say I care about them.

His name is Antonio, Sapio by (last) name and by nature.

Thank you, Nick!
