Mentioning Bo Diddley wouldn’t have been a bad idea. But is that Caesar by any chance ArnoldPippoFrancoLayne? He perfectly matches the description.

it has nothing to do with it, but I just wanted to say that the Moby Grape review on this site is taken word for word from here blackdiamondbay.it so if some editors go to add an "uh oh," I can celebrate winning the golden mongolino. Besides, it might be somewhat relevant because even the ending of this review has been copied from somewhere :D

Note how the "greatcoat," albeit under different names, is widespread in almost all pre-reality cultures. But isn't it that Stipe has taken too many of them already, and that's why he can't write anything that is his?

When we think of the 80s, we remember this because this was the sound of the 80s. All the other things you've mentioned won't be remembered as examples of the 80s simply because they represent innovations, avant-gardes, works that look forward, and that will inspire a myriad of groups in the years to come. But precisely because they are new sounds, they are not representative of the 80s. The point isn't whether or not people like Wham (they disgust me personally, but I only know 2 of their songs, the famous ones), but the fact that they always have to be compared to King Crimson, Yes, Pink Floyd, or a myriad of other bands that have nothing to do with it, absolutely nothing at all.
