Maurizio Pollini Recital all'auditorium di Roma 14 Marzo 2007

Perhaps I would have applauded like much of the audience without grasping all these elements, because it seems evident to me that a certain preparation is necessary to catch them. An open-hearted review where technical notions and feelings intertwine to perfectly portray an evening seen from a specific angle. Reading it is a pleasure. Bye
Bill Frisell Have A Little Faith

I was saying that it's hard to keep up with him, this one with De Johnette from 2006 slipped by me (thx kataklisma). I had reviewed Unspeakable back in the day, then besides "Nashville", I really liked "Gone just like a train" and "The intercontinentals" (but also "Quartet"), and if you're in the mood for a shocking experience, there's always the multimedia "Richter 858". Bye

Bill Frisell Have A Little Faith

The description you give of Frisell seems spot on, even though I haven't listened to him in a while. I must say that Frisell often leaves me with feelings similar to what you described. The only problem with Frisell is keeping up with his inexhaustible productions. Just the other day, I got my hands on a newly released ECM album featuring Frisell alongside Joe Lovano and Paul Motian (which I still need to listen to properly; it's set aside like a fine red wine). Anyway, if you liked this album, also check out Blues Dream (if you haven't already); you might enjoy it. Bye.

Paolo Fresu e Uri Caine Live @ Teatro Aurora - Scandicci

Um, the only zen I know comes from Jacopo Fo and pertained to another art, as ancient as the world and still quite widespread today. Nevertheless, the image of the archer before releasing the arrow is beautiful; it conveys a sense of tension. Haloa.

But why were the lyrics by Gino & Michele? All of them? Even the dream in reverse, ode to Evaristo Beccalossi, the wild boar?

Paolo Fresu e Uri Caine Live @ Teatro Aurora - Scandicci

Well, I've seen both of them live several times, unfortunately never together. Caine, despite his friendly appearance on stage, exceeds expectations; it's incredible how he throws himself at the piano and what he is able to come up with... from a spark, he creates a thousand fires. Fresu is different; there is a lot of elegance even in the gestures he adopts while playing, which is why I really like the idea of the flamingo, especially in how he twists on his stool. I also appreciate Fresu's versatility when performing live. He plays with many formations and develops parallel projects. This summer, for instance, I saw him supporting the "favole amare" (bitter tales) of Ascanio Celestini, a theatrical breath in which he was perfectly at ease... well, anyway, it burns me to have missed this concert... Haloa.
