The text tells the story of a bourgeois man from the north who loses his son, drowned ("like a rabbit, to hurt me, to stab me in my pride"). The son (one of the clouds of the album) is a characteristic "hero" of the time marked by the rise of capitalism (that famous engine to which De Andrè is downwind and of which he wishes not to smell); indeed, the son is a "bronze of Riace" capable of "stealing on the stock exchange, of raping in a run." The bourgeois father tries to forget the death (and the stab) and the opportunity comes from his daughter's wedding, from a celebration. There is a crescendo in the passage from pain ("son son poor son you were white red and vermilion") to the party where everything is drowned ("Ein klein pinzimonie, wunder matrimonie, krauten und erbeeren und patellen und arsellen fischen Zanzibar und einige krapfen frùer vor schlafen und erwachen mit walzer und Alka-Seltzer fùr dimenticar"), culminating in the final conclusion with the light of the jodel. The jodel extreme contrasts and conveys the sense of the whirlwind of the party in which the father drowns his own memory. There is nothing offensive in all this in my opinion.

I'm sorry djd, but in this you are being polemical. You continue to defend the jodel against accusations that no one has made (and this has already been stated clearly). As I mentioned before, De André first defines the jodel as a dazzling world, that is, luminous (not by chance), and in this I see no criticism or lack of respect; on the contrary, I read the awareness of the beauty of this Alpine song. It is true that in the song the jodel becomes a means to generate a sense of the grotesque. But this is not a characteristic of the jodel (translated: it does not mean that the jodel is inherently grotesque), nor of the other elements that accompany it, but arises from the seemingly contradictory juxtaposition of different registers. It’s an effect that does not belong individually to any of the elements at play, but emerges from their union, from their combination. Care must be taken with the text, its development, and how it connects with the music. (to be continued)

Damn one, just one, that I could know one of the albums you review! Well, better this way after all. True, the pudding transition is a stroke of genius.

In fact, the cover is a bit kitsch, but I have a doubt... if the butts had been female, would I have thought the same thing?

Miles and miles away from my musical tastes, I will very rarely listen to this album, but I read it with pleasure.

Psycho, you write the reviews and then critique them yourself, ah ah ah. Nice samples, hello.

"There are things that you humans can't even imagine," scratched CDs adrift in Orion and pendulums animated with a life of their own, but don't worry because Simone describes it all for you, even taking the pleasure of playfully ridiculing Scaruffi :)

Great cover. Since I liked the "Telefon Tel Aviv" album, I'll note this one down. Has it been released for a long time?
