Tom Waits Real Gone

Maybe Frantz you should start listening to the early Waits; only knowing the last two albums means you're missing out on his whole story. However, filling in the gaps doesn't guarantee you'll like it. But among debasers, we help each other out, we'll let you know ;)

In fact, I’m stuck at Orange (http://www.debaser.it/recensionidb/ID_1975) maybe it’s time for me to get a move on, it’s the second positive review I’ve read of this album.
Madredeus Antologia

The madredeus have undergone an evolution in their brief history. I loved the first part of their music, not the second. Until 1997, madredeus was one of my favorite listens. Ainda, Os Dias De Madredues, and Exsistir are three albums that I loved immensely and still listen to. But the transformation of the group, with the choice to abandon the cello and move towards other atmospheres where keyboards and synthesizers take center stage, has made me lose interest in their music. I didn’t love O Paraiso and their latest album didn’t excite me. In my opinion, their music has lost its charm and vitality. I am waiting for a third phase. Ciao

Just for the record, there's an error in the review; the mentioned track is Don't Go Into "That" Barn. There might be others as well. Hi!

Ah ah easy, thank goodness I cut that part then :))) I promised myself to talk about what I cut right in the comments to avoid cluttering the review further. As I said, there are countless insights that could be discussed at length. Starting with the absence of the piano. I read in an interview that this choice came about when Waits realized that the piano led him to play the same chords. So he chose new paths. In doing so, the help of his son Casey (the drummer) was crucial, as he introduced Tom to other sounds coming from rap and hip-hop. Furthermore, it seems that during the recording sessions for the album, they had fun playing over sampled recordings of Waits' voice, just to see the effect it had. In short, the underlying idea is that he wanted to shift the dynamic a bit. But still, the album follows tradition, as his voice remains the thread that connects everything. To this, I add Marc Ribot's guitar, which is extraordinary on this album. It will take some time to fully absorb the album's content. The settings are the usual ones, but what stands out is the presence of "Day after tomorrow," in which Waits takes a stance on the topic of war, and considering the times we are living in, this seems at least significant.

Despite the pressing insistences of my dealer, I didn't buy the record. I'll wait for the Libertines to make, as you say, the song of a lifetime :)

Yes, it's true, the review is well written and interesting, rich in insights and quotes. I also believe that the length of the review is not important, but its content. However, to meet different needs, there could be a way. In this case, for example, perhaps the review could have been split into two parts, making the first part a deep dive to include at the end of the album review, more prominently in the second part. The material for the in-depth analysis is there, indeed! In fact, we are not fully utilizing the space for in-depth analysis. We need to consider it. Bye.
