I'm listening to it again right now. How many times have I listened to it? I really don't know. But every time it is... It's so beautiful that I don't know what to say. The review left me speechless. It's hard to talk about Nick Drake without falling into complete banality. Perhaps never before was it unnecessary to dwell on historical details, comparisons, etc. However, this album was missing, and I've never managed to write three words in a row without finding them absolutely useless. I sent you the sample of Saturday Sun because it's one of the songs I love the most, both for the music and for the lyrics. Bye.

Saturday sun came early one morning / In a sky so clear, clear and blue / But Saturday sun, it came without warning / So no one knew what to do / And Saturday sun brought people and places / That didn't see much in their day / And when I remember these people, / these people and places / They were really, really too good / in their way, in their way // And Saturday sun / won't come and see me today / Think about stories with reason and rhyme / Circling through, through your brain / Just think about, think about people / In their season, season and times / Just returning again and again / And Saturday's sun has turned to Sunday's rain / So Sunday sat / in Saturday sun / And wait for a day gone by

I heard a couple of mp3s that shook me up :) I need to think about it because it doesn't seem like an album for me, but every once in a while it's nice to step outside the box.

Yes, it's true Sara, it's just like that for me too. Since I'm here, I'll add something that I was thinking about just tonight while I was selecting the samples. The songs on the album are all very beautiful and they flow one after the other as if there's a common thread. It's hard to choose a few. However, there's one track that I particularly love: "molto lontano." But I couldn't really explain why. Maybe because it encapsulates the entire atmosphere of the album. Who knows ... Bye :)

But John Surman is not just about sax Zk. He is an incredible multi-instrumentalist. In particular, I prefer him when he plays the bass clarinet because he has a distinctive sound. Very few have such an intense ability to hypnotize you with their sounds. Garbarek, on the other hand, feels different to me, more open. I like the idea of connecting his music with nature, with the sea, the sky. Anyway, I find it hard to say who I love more between the two. Hey, a title to pair with this album could be "private city," right by John Surman.

For me, 2004 was a bit stingy in jazz. I heard many albums, but few really appealed to me. I've been listening to Jan Garbarek for many years and he rarely disappoints; in fact, more often than not, he hits the mark. I hope, for example, that some of you have listened to Officium at least once. I believe this album will surely appeal to G_à and Turk, while I have some doubts about caz, but you can never tell (consider the copy ready and let me have the other title). @ Cleo, maybe I'll put a couple of samples so you can see if you want to keep it on the list or not, but I think you might like it. Bye.
