"A Soundtrack for Dreams"
Life is made of dreams, but choosing to live them is not easy, because one must be ready for a life full of "shocks," steeped in passion, anguish, euphoria, and melancholy. One must accept the emotional inconsistency that this decision entails and embrace a life of moments, of good and bad times that inevitably end... like dreams...
This album fully reflects all of that, describing it better than words could. "Miserycord" is a musical journey with its ups and downs, leading us through the deepest and unconscious paths of our being. Press "play" and you enter a dimension made of sounds and notes, accompanied by an ethereal and harmonious voice, which often contrasts with distorted and occasionally obsessive rhythms. The music digs deep!
Knife & Fork are Eric Drew Feldman, musician and producer, and Laurie Hall, singer and composer. This is their debut album and features contributions from various artists, such as Jennifer Hall, Sunshine Haire, Chris Sipe, Nick Vincent, and Joe Gore. The band was introduced in 1995 after a PJ Harvey concert, for whom they often opened, and they also opened for three Pixies shows. PJ describes them this way: "Knife&Fork is one of the only bands that have affected me in recent years. Unpredictable, beautiful, powerful and moving. Quite unlike anything else."
Indeed, it's hard to compare Knife & Fork to other bands: I thought of Massive Attack, Jim White, and even Radiohead, but in the end, I believe they resemble no one, or rather, they evoke everything and nothing.
So, what do you think? Do you feel like living a dream? :-)
